Have been reading many of the post on six packs and read about reducing kill bleed size to start opening the outers quicker.

Would blocking off one of the carbs kill bleed give the same effect? Say the front carb only and since they have a T fitting inline hose would give signal to other?

Would it almost be a progressive transition?

Or it could just be this Zero degree weather frosting my Brain

I have never tried that. But I have worked on several that would open late or erratically because the bleeds were clogged.

Are we to assume that you have tried the spring kits and they still don't open quick enough even with the lightest springs? And that you have made sure that the other usual culprits are not a problem?

Yes,but it will probably be too fast. However it would a harmless experiment.
I`ve done the adjustable "kill-bleed" modification. You will be suprised how sensitive it really is.
Almost as touchy as the IFR`s and AFR`s.

Something I always thought would work that I wanted to try is......... a small barrel valve or even a little needle valve in line on the vacuum hoses.
Would make the bleeds totally tunable with the turn of a knob.
You would just need to make them all a little oversized then adjust down.

Well covered one kill bleed with tape and when small vacuum applied carb with tape over kill bleed started opening about 25% before other carb started to open...

This was done on the bench but will be a test I will do after intake back on

A small adjustable valve on the vac line would work, no different then a adjustable fish tank valve we used to put on our vac. waste gate on our grand nationals turbo chargers.

But really there are more correct ways to get where you want to be.

i used to tape them off at the track way back in the 80s but i had 4.56 gear and a 3800 turbo action convertor on a trw 440 30 over and 590 cam stock 6 pac set up ran 11.30s they would open on the hit i did it on the street once and inialated the tires !!!!!

Wait a minute, let's rethink this, if we're trying to slow
the bleed-off of vacuum, to make the secondaries open quicker, aren't we working on the wrong side of the diaphragms by putting a restriction in the vacuum lines from the center carb????

We need to have the restriction in the channel from the vacuum pods to the secondaries' orifice to the venturis....

Or am I crossed up??

You need to make the kill bleed restriction in the carb body smaller and then you tee your adjustable bleeder valve into the rubber line.

Better yet, plug the kill bleeds and instead of an adjustable valve use carb jets so you can accurately control the size of the opening and thus can go back to a prior setting.
