6.1 alternator bracket (Mike Roth)

6.1 alternator bracket (Mike Roth) - 11/18/14 08:09 PM

I talked to Mike about the alternator bracket he makes I am pretty sure it will work to run a mechanical water pump and should fit a b body. It uses a small GM alternator (one wire) which should make for a much easier swap. It works with car timing covers and if you have to buy all the factory stuff tensioners, idlers, alt, PS delete stuff you come out money ahead.

That's really nice for the Drag guys. Mechanical or Meziere water pump and go.

Can he make one that mounts the GM alternator to the passenger side?
I want to run power steering and no AC

Here is a picture of it with a factory water pump fits a stock B body K member with manual steering like a glove with no modifications. really cool setup.

Is there any issue with belt walking around on the water pump pulley? Seems an idle may be needed maybe?

Isnt that spinning the water pump the wrong direction?

The water pump pulley is grooved like the alt and balancer I looked at a factory 6.1 setup and the water pump appears to spin clockwise. With the water pump pulley grooved the belt should not walk.

Here is a picture of the front of a factory 6.1 with accessories looks to me like it spins clockwise

5.7 truck motor not like that. Will a 6.1 water pump bolt up to the truck front cover?

Yes you are right, I thought about that later after I posted.
