Can I replace the roller tip on Indy 440-1 rocker arms? - 11/06/14 07:24 PM

Hello,

I have a couple of Indy roller tip rockers for a 440-1 that are in fine condition except for the roller tip. The rollers aren't rolling freely on a couple of them. Anyone have a part number and vendor for new rollers so I can just replace the roller tip?

I didn't notice it listed on Indy's website and just sent them an email to ask.....

Thanks!

They are made by Dove

i dont consider them rebuildable. fall apartable yes but not rebuildable. if anything is suspect on them, bin them, if the adjuster thread is tight you know they'll push the adjuster bolt thru in very short time. if the roller tip wheel is not spinning freely, break in half time is not far away. i was fortunate enough to have Josh supply me with loads of spares but the spares bin is getting low. this is my last season on the junk, next season is upgrade time.

I had a couple that looked almost as bad as Rebels. I agree...It is time for an upgrade!!

I have a set of black 1.5 ratio for the 440-1 heads for sale cheap, less shafts. I upgraded to T&Ds years ago and they are just sitting. PM me if interested.

For what it's worth I ran a.660" lift roller with them for 700 passes. 3 developed a crack at one side of the axle, but didn't break. Replaced those 3 and away I went until the car was sold.

Thanks guys.

Indy replied and said they only sell new ones- not rebuild able roller tips. I can check out Dove.

I've split a few Harland Sharp exhaust roller rockers in my day but never split an Indy like in the picture. That just broke from spring pressure and cycle time?

If it is exhaust rocker ,check with Hughes they have 1.5 exhaust on clearance (cheap).
