Dart Fiberglass Doors - 10/31/14 07:27 PM

I'm looking to take some more weight out of the car. Does anyone make fiberglass doors that are re-enforced so you can use the factory door tracks and vent window frame.

Not sure but I have the original doors that VFN used for the mold. The inside is completely filled with expanding foam.

You might try contacting Greg at Ultra Carbon. I believe if you can get 5 guys to buy a set he'll make them to retain all factory hardware.

Because all A body doors are basically the same I'd bet you can find people? I think he gets around $2500 a pair.

I'm going to make some carbon fiber doors this winter for my 67 Valiant. These will be sedan doors with windows that roll up and down. I would think that you could cut the post off for hardtops. They could be made out of fiberglass too. If someone would be interested in buying some maybe I could start on them sooner.

A carbon door with factory hardware? Seems like an oxymoron. The majority of the weight in those doors is the hardware. Now A carbon door with a properly mounted lean window, that's some weight savings !

I'd like to see some of your handy work. Post any fab skills pics, that could help.

I've been working for a aviation company for 15 years now doing custom interiors so that's where most of my carbon fiber experience is from. We are not aloud to take photos for privacy reasons but found a few older photos. I have a body shop that I work at on the side too, so I have a fair amount of fiberglass experience. Like I said earlier that I'm going to build some doors for my personal car first and if they turn out good "pretty confident" then I would make some for others. I will probably make other parts as well. Thanks and I will keep Moparts posted! The interior of the aircraft cost was 2 million.

And they send jobs offshore because our wages are to high!

Here's a golf cart that my dad and I built in 2000. I still have the mold for the nose.
