727 T/F THROTTLE LINKAGE ADJUSTMENT??? - 01/05/09 11:13 AM
When I last rebuilt my 727 I fitted a TCI Trans Scat shift kit (came with the rebulid kit). I performed all mods as per the so called 'RACE' criteria. I chose this as I still wanted full automatic shifting for cruising etc, and manual when at the track. Of course this requires the throttle linkage to remain connected and I was just after opinions as to the correct method of adjustment remembering the manifold bracket had been modified for my Victor intake. At the last oportunity, I adjusted the linkages as per the factory workshop manual hoping to correct premature upshift i.e. trans shifts (D range) from 1 in to D all before 15 - 20 MPH and no kickdowm is evident at any speed. Once the transmission rod is adjusted with the 3/16 rod in the bellcrank...do I just keep adjusting the carburettor rod until the corect shift pattern is obtained or is there another way to correctly adjust the linkages? Please help with any opinions....may just have fit my full manual reverse pattern if all else fails!
