Classic Pro Stock Photos - 01/04/09 05:36 AM

I found a nice web site with over 500 classic Pro Stock photos. Probably already been posted here, but check this out if you haven't heard of it. Use the "slideshow" option.

I was really surprised to see photos of the Ramchargers PS Challenger. Those seem to be few and far between. Did they only run it in 1970 or did they continue on after that?

Re: Classic Pro Stock Photos - 01/04/09 05:28 PM

Minor thread hijack, but does any one have any photos of the Pro Stock Duster that Steve and Weldon Christian ran in the early 70s? Weldon bought the car from Don Grotheer, Don had run modified production with it.

Steve drove the car mostly in AHRA Grand American Races.

Weldon sold the car to Jim Hale, don't know what happened to it after that.

Thanks,
Bill

I believe Grotheer's MP/ Christian's PS ol' Duster is GONE - From Hale it went to Ind. area - then to Iowa - two owner's in Iowa, the first one raced it and then cut out the floors to make a S/G car - then sold to a gentleman in western Iowa where it was parted out and scrapped.
Here's a pic when the first Iowa owner bought it.

Reed,
Yep that is it. About the only thing that looks different is it did not have "Weldon Christian" on the door.
Thanks!

Reed,
I got a call from a friend who knew someone who had come across some of Weldon's stuff in a garage sale and they gave it to me. I have attached a photo of the car as Weldon got it from Grotheer. I was in the Army at the time and had never seen the car before Weldon repainted it.

The duster was bought by a guy from Anthon Ia and raced for a short period of time and was sold to a man from Ida Grove Ia. Then it was sold to a guy from Nebraska who cut the floors out to make into a super gas car. My dad bought what was left and was not worth keeping the gutted shell. He cut the qtrs off and kept the doors. The fenders, hood, and decklid were sold off before my dad bought it. Still have the doors and qtrs hanging in rafters of garage. Thanks for the pics Reed. Not too pretty of a end, do the doors still have windows in them? I came across the window sticker for the car yesterday LOL...

Thanks for the final history.
