I can say one thing... you have too much timing

Re: Plug reading ? - 09/15/14 03:36 AM

Thanks Mr.P , I just switched to a bigger 950 Holley carb, had a thremoquad on it before and it pinged like crazy. I should probably put new plugs in it and it check it then. Is the autolite 3924 a good plug to run . This is on my 493 with edelbrock performer RPM heads ?.I was thinking my timing is at 37 deg. total . Also running 110 octane. Thanks for the feedback

Ok , thanks. I'll get some new plugs and back the timing down a couple degrees . Thanks again, I'm sure I will be back with some more questions.

It might take a run or two but look for the color to
be in the middle of the bend on the ground strap

Heres a question, I've seen this on plugs in some engines myself and never knew what to make of it; why does it look "fuzzy?"

Most of what your seeing is the fuel additives

That`s a hot plug for your combo in my opinion...........it`s like a #5 in NGK and the band you see on the ground may move closer to the middle of the ground strap if you go to a # 7............That plug looks hot and nasty. Try a 7, post a pic and see what happens.

Changed to Autolite 3922 plug. I also left the timing alone. Heres a picture of the 3922 plug
