Small Block W-2 Rockers

Small Block W-2 Rockers - 09/02/14 11:00 PM

Ok, sad to say but I just busted one of my Norris rockers. An intake "left offset".

Can a guy get a replacement rocker or two to match them??

got a crane gold replacement, hate to go aluminum with a new set. Anything good out there for 600-700 bucks??
I know all about Harland -Sharp and ICH stuff, trying to keep things well below 1200 bucks.

What are my options and what else is there to look at??

Well thanks to the intake offset on the W2 the price has just now doubled. The cheapest way to go would to actually pick up a set of bushed iron rockers and run them. There are members on here that have been running them for lots of years and no issue. If you have to have a roller rocker if it's a bigger more agressive camshaft your options are kind of limited and really nothing is cheap. Sometimes guys can come across some Erson rockers. There is the Mopar blue rockers which is like a crane gold but I think the blues are better. Pretty much the rest of them are 1,000 and on up. I've wondered about converting a W2 to like a stud mount rocker setup and use chevy rockers like on the eddy magnum heads. The setup might not be as nice but certainly alot more cost friendly. Sorry.. I cant help with any cheaper rockers... I switched
to T&D on all my stuff... and no they arent cheap
but they may be the best... I do have some of the MP
blue ones that I have been holding on to for a cheaper
build project

I got a few used Norris 1.5 rockers around , some left some right and some exhaust..pm me if interested and I will see what I got,,

I have a full set of what I believe are Crower. One broken rocker. I sent them to T&D to have then ratio checked to match new rockers and they said they were 1.65's. Had the whole set listed for about $500

replaced the broken Norris rocker with a Crane gold rocker.

the motor sounds like crap. It has a miss for sure. wondering if I could have bent a valve when the rocker broke or if the Gold rocker is different ratio and the one "off" rocker is upsettting the motor?

I have checked this on Largeport commando heads, and there will be the issue with side loads. To avoid the sideload the valve needs to be angled (canted) parallell to the pushrod. Or, you must fabricate something for the rocker to guide against sideways. You also need a stud boss that is offset; maybe a steelplate can be made to hold it. I guess there is so much work to this that making some offset rockers could be simpler. Ask a local hobby blacksmith if he can forge something that can be machined to a rocker. My
