Getting it done on 275's! - 08/29/14 05:41 PM

Yeah it's not the fastest car on the planet, but for a REAL street car that gets driven all over the place at 3700lbs ... 1.41 60ft ain't bad!!!

Same tires I drive it around on all the time.

Thanks to Mark Menscer for the shocks... they don't call that guy the "shock nerd" for nothing!

How did you end up getting a hood to match the patina of the car after the old one blew off?

LMFAO... with a very good hammer to the old hood!

Scott.....

You should rightfully be proud of how your car runs, you have done a fantastic job with it

Met a guy last Fri night at a cruise in that kinda reminded me of you..... Lol
Has a 78 Fairmont that looks bone stock with lots of patina. Has a1998 short block from an Explorer
Factory small block in it with 160, 000 miles on it he put aftermarket aluminum heads on, 8.8 rear, and a turbo( forget which one it was, he bought it off ebay for 700 bucks he said) and with 13 pounds of boost it runs mid 10's. He won't twist it harder as he is afraid of it grenading.... Lol...... But what a sleeper

Curious, what pressure are you running at the track?

18.5~19.0psi... Depending on how hard I'm trying to hit the tire.

Mickey Thompson 275/60's (NOT the pro version) on a 10" rim. Tires are glued at the bead.

I think he means tire pressure, get your head out of the boost box

Yes, wasn't thinking it could be taken two ways in your case. I run the same tire, about 80# more weight, certainly less power and I have to drop down to 15 psi on a hot track to keep traction. That seems low to me.

Re: Getting it done on 275's! - 08/30/14 05:53 PM

LMFAO... 18.5~19psi IS what I run in the tire pressure... lol

Boost is only at 15~16psi right now.

15psi in these tires is VERY low. I'm very surpised it works better at 15psi then it does at 18~20psi for you.

What suspension are you running?

We were running the tire pressure at 18.-19.0. The boost is much lower than that .

I'm running CalTracs with HD springs, Mopar Performance shocks. They are several years old and although they have decent tread, I'm thinking their age is a problem (and just now looking at the tread, I noticed some cracking in the tread grooves).

If the ugly vs cool scale ever tips the wrong way I'll be sure to let you know!

....all kidding aside I simply love that combo. Thanks for the updates. Would be fun to sit in the stands and listen to folks when you line up against other more popular cars.
