.150 needle and seats sealing???? - 08/06/14 01:42 AM

Arggh e-85 switched gas carb
HP 950 carb
new needle and seats float bowl adjusted fuel pressure 5.5 psi and verified with two different gauges

the bowls creep on up to spill over fuel through the booster like after two minutes or so I am suspecting leaking needle and seats

I put my gas needles .120 back in and they hold pressure fine

what gives I do not know
anyone have problems with .150 float needles

I have always had problems with quick fuel and holley larger needle and seats. If you don't lap them they never seal. What I have done is switched to blp titanium n&s for all my builds. The .140 is perfect for e85 carbs. That is what I use on the majority of builds. I will go bigger when the demand is there for carbs over 1250 and up.

Or just dont waste the time and get the blp titanium eh ?

Thanks for the feedback
I am about to pull my hair out on a simple needle Change out . R&R and troubleshoot two hours later lol
which floats are rated also for the application?

I am having the same dang thing happening with my quickfuel 950, thats why I was thinking about letting you do my dominator at some point. can you explain lapping them in? are you talking about the needle and seat bore?

had float problems with our 950 QFT E85 carbs...had to change out brand new needle and seats for the Titanium needle and seat on one of the carbs to get the float level stop creeping..

Blp needle and seat

To lap them in I use a little brake clean grap the end of n&s with a small needle nose pilar and lap into the seat. Doesn't need much maybe 2 min on each and you will seat the needle.

With the 160 I wouldn't think you would need much over 5.5psi. Unless fuel demand are extremely high on your combo. With the 140 I normally run 6-6.5lbs at the most.

Any other carb companies out there that have a great seal?
BLP has to be shipped out of florida, and I was hoping to source something quicker out of some closer local warehousing?
