Cut to length push rods - 07/29/14 04:51 AM

Years ago (many) I purchaced a push rod kit from Mopar Performance that you cut to lenght then finnished putting them together. They had a long push rod finnished on the bottom, a cup, a drill to open up the ID where the cup fit(after you cut to lenght) and a fixture to hold the push rod while you pressed the cup in. Thick walled CM I belive.
Does anyone offer a kit like that anymore?

I have a hand full of them if you want them.. the
ball end is 3/8 and doesnt fit anything I own... its
not a full set because I stripped it for a few pieces
of tubing... the newer sets the tip(cup) were a bit
loose but MP said that wasnt a problem and really it isnt

i use Comp Cams cut to length pushrods & bought the special drill they sell to cut them down plus ream the inside for the cup to fit. they press in very easily plus you can buy the correct 5/16 ball n cup combo.

I've used the Mancini ones on multiple engines with no problems.

The Mancini ones used to be made by trend (diamond) now the get them from some one else.

trend is great and very reasonable to buy, its not worth making sub standard ones your self.

Do any of them have thick walled pushrods (over 0.080")?

This engine needs a push rod approx 9.725" long.

Brian, Indy has cut to fit, but you can get a custom set made from Trend most of the time get them the next day with express shipping.

I believe you but why waste you time, you can get them next day if needed and for what they charge for custom push rods I can't see much savings in doing it your self.

I personally have had bad luck with cut to length pushrods and I wouldnt go down that road again.

I highly recommend Smith Brothers pushrods

I just bought these at the Mopar Car/Show race at Bandimere in June in the swap meet area.
Old Mopar number 4007284. I googled the number and found this number p5249815, and this place selling them for $118.80.
