64 Belvedere rear wheel advice

Its not the lip, its on up inside it. The car sits down over the tire.

65 to IIRC 68 are the shortest. 69 up rears are wider.When I cut the Dana Ill cut it 1/2 inch shorter than my OE 65 housing thats now in my kids 62 300.He has 10 inch wide tires under it and has plenty of room.His other set of tires was about 10 1/2 wide and cleared.I have a 69 housing under my 65 and its wider than the 65 one.Rocky

I'm not disputing you but if thats the case then how did the 70 Charger rear work in the other fellas car ?

You want a 65 B-Body Housing

Thats different than my 64 ?

Will changing the back spacing on your rims help ?

The '64 B-body rear end is wider than pre-'71 B-body rear ends.

B-body overall widths drum-to-drum:

'64 = 60 7/8" (Exc.Max Wedge)
'65-'67= 59 1/2"
'68-'70= 60 1/8"

JC the 70 will work but its wider.I have a 69R/T rear under the 65.Only reason I used it was because I bought it DtoD for 35 bucks and it had the large axles compared to the 65s.I can almost get 5 1/2 BS 10 inch wide rims under the 65.They are close to the spring.On the 65 rear they would hit.Rocky

I had that same problem JC. I had my 30 x 9 Hoosier radial slicks on an 8" wheel and when I hit bumps on the road with a passenger in the car they would rub up on the inside of the 1/4 also. So right now I have my 30 x 9 tires on my 15 x 7" steelies. And it moved the tire in about an inch. They fit perfect now with about 3/4" on the inside at the spring and the same up in the 1/4 and they dont rub at all on the street. If it was a race car only I could get away with the 8" wheels but not driving on the street. The car is still hooking great on these wheels and they are working fine for me. But remember I have a rear from a 65 B-body in my 63 as I wanted to get away from the drums with the hub and nut on them. Ron

I have an 8 3/4 from a Duster that I may try. I know its a little narrower.

A-body standard width is quite a bit narrower at 57 1/8" overall, with typical BBP axles it's closer to 58"...might have a problem with tires rubbing the inner wheelhouse.

I just ordered 8"steelies and 28x10 slicks for my 63.It does have a 69 8 3/4 in it. I hope they work?

Does anyone know of an adapter that allows the older dog dishes to work on the newer style wheel?

Here it is on the car. It isn't snapped on the one rib because I didn't want to scratch the paint. You can tell it's not "square" but I wanted to see how it looked.

I wonder if just a 7" wheel would fix my problem ? Even if I still use my 275/60 tire. Any suggestions ?

i got 65 coronet with 275/60/15 8inch rim i tried a 10inch wheel but i got to cut the rear a little
