Silver Dart from Canada in Brainerd last weekend - 07/08/14 10:37 PM

Anyone know who has a super sweet 68 Dart, silver in color and from Canada that was in Brainerd last weekend. I have some questions for him and thought maybe someone on here knows who they are. I have a pic of the car I will post shortly. Thanks in advance.

It was a very sweet car. I just want to ask him a few questions about his tow rig.

Isn't that a 67?

It could be. I just looked quick and was interested in his motorhome. It was the same as mine and he was towing a big trailer with it and I was curiuos how it pulled it.

That's Doug D from Winnipeg. Not certain if he is a member here.

He is also a very astute collector , or good friends with one.
There is a local guy who used to be an engineer for Offenheuser back in the day and he had a Mr. Norm's Hemi Charger.
I met him at a local cruise deal and he showed me the headers with the Chrysler part number and I picked up on the electric fuel pump right away. Very nice car.
Fast forward a couple years and I am at his place delivering a few Chev motors ( he is now an AMC guy , with literally one of everything and all practically museum quality. )
His pole building sits over a quarter mile from his house and he paid for the paved driveway with part of the proceeds from selling the Charger.
The story I got was that Doug showed up at his house unannounced with another gentleman and asked about the car.
The guy was surprised because he never listed it and lives a pretty quiet , below the radar kind of life.
Ken told them it wasn't for sale.
They upped the ante by a nice chunk and he told them " I never considered selling it " and they upped the bid again.
It finally got to the point where he couldn't say no and they bought themselves a low mile original Mr. Norm's Hemi Charger and took it back to Winnipeg with them.

Dragram, we were pitted across the lane from Doug. We were with the green Cuda and the red 68 hemi SS dart.
When I see Doug, I'll let him know you are looking for him.

I talked to his wife a little bit at the track but I never did talk to him. I talked to you a little with the green cuda also. Bolth your cars are way cool. How did the cuda end up running? I was running in RS/N so I was always in staging when you guys were running so it was hard to watch everyones runs.

I took this while I was there.

It was good news bad news weekend of Mike with the green Cuda. Ran an all time best 8.16, then burned a piston on the next run. Done for the weekend and went home on Saturday morning. Doug went home Sunday morning. I hung around with the 68 hemi Dart until Sunday afternoon.

Bummer for Mike and crew, how did Daryl do with his Hemi Dart?? I wanted to be there with my old truck but worked all weekend. Dave

Hey Dave!!! We missed ya last weekend. We had Mike's car running pretty decent. Ran an 8.16 with a 1.19 60' and were spinning pretty hard off the line so I think we could have done better yet. If we hadn't torched #7 the plan was to step it up a bit on the second stage and maybe get that elusive 7 second pass. We were right in the thick of things as far as the competition and I believe we had a good chance and placing well but it wasn't to be. Headed over to Mike's on Saturday morning to do the autopsy.

As far as Dartly Daryl, he made a number of passes with a best of 10.43. I'm sure the 2700 DA wasn't helping him. We offered him a little blue bottle but he declined. He's already scheming on how to make it faster.

Rick I'd loved to have been there but getting the crop in was the priority. Would have loved to have made a pass next to Daryl and caught up with the Green Ba$tard gang. Hope the motor isn't hurt to bad. Dave
