ET. gain from carb swap......(Update) - 06/28/14 01:59 AM

I have been running a old style Holley 950 that I never even tuned or changed jets in on my D50 and have ran a best so far 1.33 60 ft. 6.29 @ 109 mph in the 1/8.Most of the time it runs 6.30-6.32. I now have put a ProSystems 1050 Dominator that was built for this motor on it.
Now we can play the what will it run now game. What do you think it will run now. Better or worse. It definately feels stronger on the street but that does not mean it will be faster at the track.(1/8 mile only).
It is a 394 pump gas small block with Indy 360-2 heads and intake ported by Brett Miller,10.9 comp.,255/266 @ .050 roller cam, 704 lift with 1.65 T&D rockers. 456 gears,8in PTC 5400 stall convertor. Drag radials and mufflers ,2950 lbs driven to track.
I hope to run it tomorrow but there is a chance of rain so we will see.

I'm going to put my foot in my mouth probably but if It's built by Pro Systems for your application I am going to guess it will run a tenth better. Should have a little more top end and could even be more responsive because they tune and match the carb to your setup. Should be close out of the box if they did there part right. But you have to take into consideration if this is the only change made, track conditions, weather, is the truck going to hook the same, ect.

Usually when you use an assometer for a dyno and you can feel the difference, you can expect a tenth or so.. you know we are having rain all weekend around here I wouldn't be able to run this weekend anyways since I have my engine out and finishing up on my new engine. My last two passes was a nightmare with my 512. My slicks are going away and did a 153 60 ft 6.17 @ 119 mph. I hope to catch up with ya soon

Alan

Hard to tell and I`ve even seen some slow down till finely tuned but hopefully w/a tweek or two you`ll be on your way to lower et`s...........

I`ve heard good and bad about these different "wazoo" carb companies and no disrespect but a motor`s an air pump and each signals differently and has different vacuum signals. So to say " I put this new so and so carb on and picked up this amount w/out tuning" is obsurd. But, I can`t wait for your results and maybe it`s just a "tweek" away as stated.............

Finally got to try out the ProSystems 1050 today. I got to make 4 passes and it blew the tires out every pass. I guess I got a new problem now, getting it to hook with the new carb.I never had traction problems before the carb swap. I am not sure if it was the track today or it is making more power. It would carry the front tires for 3-4 feet then it would blow the tires out, I would peddle it some then it would spin down track.

Did you get a chance to spin it on the top end? If so, did the mph change any from before? I can't imagine that carb swap doing anything but improve track performance all the way around. Good
luck.
