Turbo 5.7 9.47 @ 144 - 06/25/14 02:20 AM
After struggling all last year just to make it down the track we ran a new best @ Mopar Day at St Thomas last week.
This was with only 14 lbs of boost. The short block was built to take 20...so there is more fun to come. Will need a parachute soon!

Re: Turbo 5.7 9.47 @ 144 - 06/26/14 02:22 AM
Thanks. As you can see in the video, the car leaves really soft, so I think the rear end is safe for a while. It handled the brute torque of the 512 with the 2.45 first gear of the old combo. I change the ring and pinion every 300 passes to be safe, and there is a fresh set of 3.23's in there now.
The engine is a 5.7 out of a '05 Ram. Tall fill, 6.1 crank & cam, 6.1 oil pump and intake. Wiseco pistons, K1 rods. Eagle heads with Drag Pak springs. Trend stock length pushrods. Home built headers. The injectors are Ford Motorsport 160 lb/hr. Ebay intercooler, wastegate and throttle body. MegaSquirt 3 is in charge of the fuel, spark, boost control and data-logging The turbo is from a GMC 6v91(?) Bus. Its a T6 with a 76 mm inducer...its a HEAVY MF! Has a powerglide and a torque converter that is all wrong for this combo, but will do for now.

I'm impressed. I'm going to cobble a spare 6.1 motor together in the next year to take big boost. That 6.1 cam loves boost. Hennessey used them in their 426 turbo cars for the LONGEST time.
Are those a shelf wiseco piston?
I know a guy who would love to grind you a custom hemi cam...hes done a few.

What RPM do you bring it to?
Also when you go to Cayuga, do you typically park near the entrance gate?
Thanks

Great car. Are the heads 5.7 or 6.1 ? If 5.7, what mods were done to use the 6.1 intake ?

The eagle heads are a hybrind 5.7 and 6.1 head. Closed chamber, 6.1 D shaped exhaust port and an intake port right in between a 5.7 and 6.1.

I was launching it at 2500 on the two step. About 2 lbs of boost. I have made some changes to the suspension so hopefully I can crank it up some. The heads and intake were very close, just needed a bit of matching. We always pit near the gat at TMP, its not as busy and our dog likes it!

MegaSquirt's been flawless once I got the start-up issues solved. It just keeps on pulling in high gear!
