ProForm HP-style carb body QC issues? - 12/30/08 04:11 PM
Has anyone encountered any quality control issues w/ the ProForm HP-style carb bodies? I've come across some comments on the 'net where people have said there were misaligned venturis (compared to the baseplate), passages not in the original location, etc., that can cause complications. So, I was wondering if anyone here can attest to this being a common problem or not. FWIW, I'm considering the 950 main body for use w/ a 1.75" billet base plate I already have.

I bought a 750 body and baseplate and the dowel holes didn't line up.
I ended up omitting the dowels and lining up the venturi bores by eye/touch and socking the screws down.

FYI, Jesse from Biggs Carb posted this info not too long ago, so you can decide what venturi size you want.
Proform carb bodies:
850 cfm 67107C has 1.400 venturi X 1.750 Baseplate
950 cfm 67108C has 1.450 venturi X 1.750 Baseplate
Holley 950 is 1.375 venturi X 1.750 Baseplate

Ive built a few of these carbs and i havent had alot problems with the PROFORM stuff , But i have with the PROCOMP main bodies , The passages to the base plate are mis alighned and I drill 4 hole that are missing to the metering blocks , The metering holes may not make alot of difference but i make them just like the HOLLEY centers , When u swap the main bodies just compare and make them just as the hollies are , Thats what i do and i havent had any prodlem with doing this .....
