Schiefer/ Dana 60 Gear Quality?

Schiefer/ Dana 60 Gear Quality? - 05/25/14 09:08 PM

I have a nice old set of 4.10 Dana gears with the big "S" trademark, seems they were very popular in the 60's and 70's, anything to be concerned about. I just smoked the 4.56 Dana gears in my car but was planning on going to the 4.10 for a while now. Thanks for any input.

Never had a problem wit the Scheifer gears. We ran them 4.88 or 5.13 depending on the track and never broke one.
Put it inand don'tworry about it. Assuming it is not rusted up or chewed up fromprior use.

Those were good gears. They were actually made by Eaton.

Thanks for all the encouragement, I thought they would be ok, everybody I knew back in the 70's used them, they look like new.
