Thinking of dropping my 440 W2 Smallblock in THIS

Thinking of dropping my 440 W2 Smallblock in THIS - 04/14/14 04:00 PM

Cool or Not cool?

Original Slanty 3 on the tree with 9" drums.

The only thing that scares me is the complete overhaul of the drivetrain and mechanical systems it will require.

Mild 525 horse W2 4.25" stroke with 3.55 gears and a tweaked 904.....high 11 second grocery getter....thoughts?

Ya, I wouldn't do it - but you wouldn't have any problem selling it to me.

Re: Thinking of dropping my 440 W2 Smallblock in THIS - 04/14/14 05:27 PM

the 360 Block is already machined, Already got the awesome BPE 4.25 crank and some billet rods, just need some port work on the W2's and some slugs and a cam.

Just talked to Stephen Daurity, he's down for doing some of the swap out and drivetrain/brakes upgrades (wish I had all the time and space I need to do all of it myself, but I don't).

Who really truly inspired me for this one is Tony (Tonys451) and his awesome daily drivers!!

What's really cool about this one is all of the interior has already been done, it's a 2 tone tan and blue but it's 'quirky-cool'

Better check header availability on that Early and w-2 head set up.

Re: Thinking of dropping my 440 W2 Smallblock in THIS - 04/14/14 10:24 PM

YES.
I'll take what's behind door #1, Door #2 and Door#3.
You'll just have to do as much as possible with what little overhang you've got in the rear to hook and sink 'em all at the track. Should be a nice 10 second piece right off the turnpike. My boy's full interior, full metal A-body goes mid to high tens with a little less power from his true pump gas 416.

Re: Thinking of dropping my 440 W2 Smallblock in THIS - 04/14/14 11:25 PM

I know its not a Mopar and its about the last thing we needed was another PROJECT but he bought this over a year ago and its temporarily parked in my driveway.(brought it home last week) It has a very nice tig welded roll bar already installed and he just traded the 12 bolt rear-end for a dana. We will probably do up a nice chevy LS engine for it.

Re: Thinking of dropping my 440 W2 Smallblock in THIS - 04/15/14 04:37 AM

Cool little wagon.

Headers will be the big thing. Not a whole lot of room on the driver's side.

Re: Thinking of dropping my 440 W2 Smallblock in THIS - 04/15/14 05:53 AM

Header selection does suck, either $800 Doug's or $850 TTI's and thats after you ditch the W2's. Bummer...

High 11's would be with a car load of passengers. High 10's would be easy with that combo and that car.

Re: Thinking of dropping my 440 W2 Smallblock in THIS - 04/16/14 12:16 AM

What will this weigh with an iron head 440" stroker SMALL block, a 904 and and 8 3/4 with 11 3/4 discs and 11 x 2 1/2" drums?

I'm thinking 3250 ??

Does anyone have one and know the weight for sure?

Nice, but I like the blue 61 wagon that is in the classifieds a little more.

Probably a touch lighter than that, but close.
