Main bearings for Big Block - 03/24/14 03:56 PM

I'm freshening up a buddy's 528 bracket motor with Mopar size journals. Well, the crank has between .001 and .0018 of wear on the rod journals. Does anybody make rod bearings with less clearance? Thanks

Yes, if its still a Mopar rod journal, you'll need a Clvite CB527HND001. You can also try some coated bearing, which reduce the vertical clearance as well, but coating are really meant to be sacrificial over time, and the clearance will increase. If its a motr that gets freshened often, maybe not so bad. I would think though, the first bearing will do it.

Between .004 and .0048. Ain't pretty. My buddy says if he has to buy a new crank he won't be able to afford to eat. I told him he could afford to lose a few pounds anyway.
