Squirter size w/50cc diaphragms - 03/19/14 10:36 PM

Just curious as to what Squirter size guys are using with 50 cc diaphragms on a 4150 style carburetor.

Best I remember I had to go pretty large on my 950. I'll ck next time at the shop.

Thanks Blu. I have a QF 950 right now with two 50cc diaphragms, however I was running the pink cams and have since installed the correct brown cams but haven't tried it yet. Wondering if I'll need to lower Squirter size now, but I guess I won't know til I go to the track.

What size do you have in both right now... I think
I have 32s in my 850

Pretty sure I also have 32's on both sides. I also have the progressive 1:1 secondary rod. Best 60' was 1.45. Now I have the brown cams installed and wondering if it's going to be too much.

Try it as is..do you have a A/F meter on it

Well then your gonna have to go by the 60' numbers

Each application is different.
Regardless of what size pump diaphragms (30 or 50) you use, it all boils down to how much volume needs to be delivered (squirter size) to avoid a flat spot/bog when you floor it and for how long that volume has to be maintained (30/50 cc pumps & cam size) so it finishes by the time the main circuit takes over. Squirt too much initially and/or for too long, you get into a rich condition. Not enough volume and/or duration, you get bogs/flat spots.

Smaller squirters with a given pump shot increases the duration. Bigger squirters shorten the duration.

Bigger or smaller pump cams shorten or lengthen the squirt duration for a given squirter size.

I have an Autometer playback tach and can actually see minor hesitations in the playback that I can't feel when weather conditions and/or engine temps are too cool. This is during the initial "hit" when the converter is "flashing". I can't wait to try their new DL version tach which includes a A/F channel, as well as a pressure channel!

Accellerator pump circuit tuning for 60' times and jet for mph.

Thanks Locomotion. I understand exactly what you said regarding the circuit, and I'm very interested in the tach you mentioned. Just trying to get a feel for what others might be running, that's all. VERY interested in that tach!!
