He has drop top now. That in-car was crazy. Must of sounded like a bomb went off in there.

On the TV coverage his crew chief Rahn Tobler showed the reason it blew; a valve spring keeper pulled loose and dropped a valve.

Two dollar part destroys a $60K body....all too typical.

It looks like it rung his bell pretty good!
He appeared to be about 95% knocked out.
His eyes were open but not much else was happening in the brain pan for a little bit.
Glad he's OK.

Around here we call that "lights on, nobody home". That in-car was crazy.

He was definitely fading in and out of conscioiusness there for a bit. Very very lucky.

He was doing his very best to figure out where he was and what he was supposed to be doing at that moment…. let alone what just happened? Oh yeah, where's the brake handle again?

Some brave dudes to be doing that for a living, knowing that could happen at any time - and the more you do it the more likely one of those "mishaps" could be life ending. In the 60's, many of those "mishaps" were life ending. Mike Sorokin ( driver for the Surfers ) often comes to mind.
