Question about Bob George racing ?

Question about Bob George racing ? - 01/24/14 07:38 AM

I dont mean to sound dumb or mean any offense to Bob George but I just dont know alot about his opperation and I know a ton of people have his name on their car. So I was just wanting to know a little more about his setup. I mean does he run a huge shop and do work on most of the cars with his name on them ? As I say I dont mean to be ignorant but I just dont know as all I ever hear about him is that he is a first class guy but I dont know anything about his shop or opperation. And all of the cars with his name on them seem to run very good. Thanks , Ron

Ron,I've had him modify several Indy Domintor intake for me and I used his guy, AJ Castini, to modify my 1150 Holley for E85. Both are straight shooters and both have been very helpful in all of my dealings with both

Re: Question about Bob George racing ? - 01/24/14 01:52 PM

I can tell you one thing. He is the most question friendly and ready to help you kind of guy, more than any racer I know. He has answered a hundred questions from me, worked on parts for my car, almost at a moments notice.

The cars in his shop, unbelievable workmanship.

I just got a cam from him last month, he set the springs for me, and I spent the day with him learning more in that day about heads than I ever will again. Unless I go back up there, which I'm sure I will.

Thanks Bob,

Bill

Re: Question about Bob George racing ? - 01/24/14 02:06 PM

Ron,Bob George Racing in these parts to Mopar people is known as more of a place of friendship, mutual respect and sort of a Center of the Universe for all of us that have lived and breathed Mopar all of our lives. Beside the fact Bob is a legend in this area dating back to the 60's. I think it is an honor for most of these guys to be associated with B/G Racing and to carry his name on their cars no matter what level of work Bob has done for them. If you ever have a chance to go there, one of my favorite things to see is Bob's wall of honor, which is hundreds of pictures of cars he has worked on, helped people with, and been associated with. I can also guarantee you that every person in those pictures is a friend of his. I think he is very proud of that wall, it is his legacy.

There are a million great things about Bob and my fellow racers at Bgracing! I will say this, without Bob and the crew, guys like myself very well would have been watching not racing!!! It's an honor to run his name on my car, and be a part of the Bgr family!

His shop is every car guys wet dream... He won't sell you what you don't need and his motors work very well. If you are looking for fabrication he is your man also. Also a great place to hang out and bench race..although he seems to be always working anyway. I would not hesitate to have any work done there.. Plus..he likes dogs...which is a high indicator in which I choose who to do busness with. His namesake is the black one..

What can I say,Bob is friend first, builder second. Once you meet him he's your friend and will help you anyway he can. I am proud to fly BG Racing on our car. I agree he does like dogs,(BIG DOGS,I MEAN DOGS THAT BLOCK THE SUNLIGHT) but more important the dogs like him. You can't fool a dog it either likes you or not! If you are thinking of having any work performed by BG,you won't go wrong, the service doesn't end when the car is out the door. Thanks BG, Mike

Top notch all the way here!! Bob is nothing but humble & gracious. He wants all of us to be able to live the dream of having a race car/muscle car. His honest & straight forward words, this is what you need to get it done right is why he is the man to go to. Bob will work w/anyone & help anyone he can. Nothing but praise here.
Thank You, Ken Michalik

Met Bob a number of years ago and have been to his shop (complex) a couple of times just to visit and it is impressive it's clean, organized and dosen't seem as there is anything they cannot do there, as for Bob the guy, a lot of races I have been at that Bob and company have been at also, He always makes hisself available and is quick to help a racer in need asking for nothing in return he also spend's a good amount of time going around visiting with people he has met and/or helped over the years, always a stand-up guy and quick to help.

Bob probably doesn't even remember this but I'll never forget how he offered me a badly needed part (turned out I found one closer so I didn't need to take him up on it) but I'll never forget how he offered it to me just based on my posts here. Class act for sure.

What more can be said, you know you have succeeded in life when people name their dog after you The shop is definately someone's "wet dream",I get that feeling everytime I don't make it to bathroom.

Re: Question about Bob George racing ? - 01/24/14 05:41 PM

I'm more of a reader here than a poster, but wanted to chime in

The comments posted thus far are true and then some! I recently decided to build my first race car and was referred to Bob's shop. I really wanted to learn as much as possible and Bob has let me be as hands on as I can be traveling from VA. I've used his tools, welders, plasma and so on. He is patient and puts up with a lot of beginner questions that are probably annoying. The guys at the shop are all friendly as are the canines. The big one looks a lot like Bob actually.....

He is good at what he does because he loves it. His statement of "customers become friends and friends become family" is true and that's important. I'll be proud to put BGR on my car when its done.... even though I have taken a fair amount of verbal abuse

Thanks Bob.

Re: Question about Bob George racing ? - 01/24/14 06:37 PM

Thanks for all the replies. Yea I just wanted to know if he had a big shop he ran and it sounds like he and who ever works with him must do everything from eng builds to chassis work. And it sounds like all first class work. I myself live in Baltimore which should be somewhere about 3 or 4 hrs from S/W PA so I would love to stop by one weekend and see the place and talk Mopars. I also love dogs as here is a pic of my loving hound dogs. Being retired on disability I spend most of my time with my dogs and my Mopar. This hobby is full of good people and great to hear of such good Mopar people like Bob and all assosiated with him. Ron

Re: Question about Bob George racing ? - 01/24/14 06:58 PM

The first time I went there, I parked in his lot and when I opened my door, I was greeted by a charging 120 pound big black bear which turned out to be a "BIG DOG". Turned out that the dog had a friendly personality like Bob and walked me in to meet the guys in the shop. He has a good set up that I envy, and the only place he didn't show me was out back. "Hemi Fred" has made comments about that area and all the good times that he has had back there. That's something that I wont ask about. haha.

Respect to all,

You have a 220lb dog??? Largest I've ever seen was 200. I would love to see a pic of this beast standing next to something for scale!!!

don't worry about the farm animals, keep an eye on your wife, he will have her in the back seat of the golf cart if you don't watch him! good man , I value his friendship a lot!

Tibetan Mastif, aka Tibetan Mountain dog,the origin of all the Mastif breeds.Maximus was the runt of the litter. The highest price paid for any dog was for a red Tibetan Mistif bought in China a little over a year ago, over a million dollars. They were bred to kill wolfs, mountain lions and bear.
Some one may be able to bring up a picture of Max that was here on Moparts a while back at one of the Curt races riding the golf cart with his tail dragging on the ground. My other two are Thelma and Louise, yellow Labs each go 130.We grow them big down here on the farm, never a dull moment.

Larry, someone needs to entertain "Special Kay" since you are always too busy racing.

Wow 220 lb dog ! My Labs are almost 200 lbs together as the yellow/gold Lab is about 95 lbs and the black Lab/Border Collie mix is about 90 lbs. And they hog up alot of the bed when they jump in it. Ron

Never heard of a thread about one shop with such positive reviews & no one trying to throw in an insult or ctiticism! I'll be in the NYC area in May but will make it a point to make the drive (yes, I know it's a long way) just to see & meet such an influential enthusiast!

As I have said before and speaking for all the BGR crew and racers,we are both honored, respectful and humbled by everyones comments.

For a good picture of Maximus aka BGR "BIG DOG" go to BGR "BIG DOG" not Larry Smith post."enjoy"

BG RACING built the 588"HEMI in my S&M Duster which has now well over 300 flawless passs. In my over 50 years of racing NO ONE in any shop I have dealt with has ever shown the amount of personal attention to insure 100% customer satisfaction on even the small transactions .
BG's shop is place you will find out to be one great big " racing family "

Once you meet Bob and his crew you will wonder why you didnt make the effort earlier He has never performed any work on my cars yet but has answered any questions very thoroughly and honestly and even offered parts to try, then get back with him on the results. I think if someone was looking to have work done by BGR, a trip to his shop would be like a racers Disneyland, "a little bit of everything, some hands on, good things to look at, and lots of good conversation and laughs"

Re: Question about Bob George racing ? - 09/12/18 04:16 PM

Bob's son Curt built a smallblock for my wife and I before his untimely passing. We have nothing but GOOD to say about BGR. A.J. and the rest of the guys there will go out of their way to help you in any way. We still stop in when we are in the area (Bob likes to hug my wife). This is the ONLY place to get work done or just benchrace. Great shop, great work, but most of all great people
