Well I Finally Did It

Well I Finally Did It - 12/23/13 12:32 AM

I finally put the P-BODY up for sale... I had to think
long and hard whether to sell it or just keep it...
well I'm not driving it so why let it just sit... I'm
sure someone else can have some fun with it... its
been a good car for me with very little work needed
to run it... on race days I normally never even opened
the hood... just topped off the fuel every third run
and set the tire pressure right before I headed to
the lanes... I usually sat there in the A/C or was
cooking something... I'm gonna be sad to see it go
but I would rather see it in use

Health issues... too many heart attacks I guess or
maybe the stroke(minor one) but my doc says... no way
will I give you a love letter to go racing... and I
went to 3 different doctors but they all say... "what
did your other doctor say"... oh well

Good luck with sale! I agree that it's nice to send it to a good home rather than let it collect dust.....

what's up with that motor?? haha

I feel for you , Mike. I went through it with our '66 Cyclone and I don't kick myself as often as I used to , but I do miss the car.
Based on what I have seen of your craftsmanship , I think someone is gonna get a really nice race car.
And it does deserve to be out there making laps.

Just run 10's and go have fun. Life is too short. You seem to love cars and racing, unless you just done with the whole racing scene.
Is P Body coming off the door when you sell it?

I know how you feel Mike, I am seriously thinking of selling my Valiant.

I'm offering the car as a roller or turn key.. if
a person wants just a roller I might sell the engine
or keep it... if they want it turn key I will re-fresh
the engine and trans.. for a few more bucks I will
have the cam reground for more lift(which it needs)
but its a maintenance free set up now

I'm not taking it off... if the buyer wants to.. fine..
it will come off easy with one of those rubber eraser
wheels ... I have my Rampage which should run low 10s
that I will race and street drive

I was running it in 10.0 stuff but it deserves to
let it eat... its a high 8 car now and with a cam
regrind it could run 8.60 or so... I went the extra
distance and money to make it light so let it run

We all be ho's when is comes to "the right price"

Good luck with the sale, the right buyer would also get a tech line or crew chief when the car is sold

Believe me I would be more than happy to help the
new owner with anything on it... I wouldnt mind seeing
it stay local so I could help at the track once in
a while.... plus all the little odd ball things I
have for it would go with the sale... like the valve
spring compressor thats needed to pull the heads and
my throttle stop set up for running 10.0 if the engine
with with the car

Re: Well I Finally Did It - 12/23/13 07:05 AM

ya shoulda went to a VA doctor and told them you feel fine......they would clear ya for flight school, drag racing, astronaut school, skydiving school, bungee jumping and a Bonneville 300 mph license, all in the same day.......no dust settles on the hood till ya shut the car off.....

LOL... they all seem to ask the same thing " what
did your last doctor say"... I guess when they look
at the EKG and the x-rays they can see the 15 stents
and I guess the EKG is a give away .. the
stroke really messed up my reaction time also... but
IF I could BS them I would have to get my license
but I also would ever want to hurt anyone else on
the track IF I were to have a problem
EDIT
I went to the VA hospital ONCE.. when I first started
working at Chrysler I had a issue at work(my head got
a BIG lump on it one morning) and I didnt even see it
but the guys in my lab kept asking me if I felt ok,
which I did.. finally when they said something I went
to the john and looked in the mirror... DAMN I had
a lump bigger than a softball on the upper side of
my head... I was messing with it and it popped and
a 3/4" wide and about a 1 1/4 long chunk of steel popped
out... it was when I got shot in the head over in Nam..
medical at work wouldnt touch it due to a military
issue so I went to the VA.. after stand/sitting in
the hall for 5 hours and seeing all those guys that
were really hurt and all messed up I walked out...
and havent ever been back... I just hope I dont have
to go back to get my benefits for my cancer which the
doctors say I got in Nam from agent orange which I
worked a ton with... didnt know it then
By the way I still have that chunk.. was part of my
steel pot.. have it with my dog tags

run low 10s when I get the chassis dialed in

not that i would do anything like this but have you considered consulting one of the dr.s with a middle eastern accent.

Re: Well I Finally Did It - 12/23/13 06:08 PM

Mike, good luck with the sale. Someone is going to get a well engineered car. I felt the same way when I sold my RED last summer. It sat in the barn wasting away for three years.
You need to file a claim with the VA. You are eligible for a 100% disability from agent orange related illnesses. You don't have to go to the VA hospital to file a claim. Contact the state or county VA assistance office and they will help you fill out the paper work and file the claim for you.

No.. thank you.... I'm fine now days since my cancer
is in remission right now.... the type I have
is the same as what Randy(LabRat) had
I've been out in the shop building a trailer to haul
behind the Rampage... just a small one that I can
use on DW or any other times I want to take stuff with
me around here... its 40" X 48" with a 25" high alum
inclosed... I'm making it so it has a 40" X 40" slide
out platform for all the tools and tires if I carry
tires for DW
