The Eagle Hemi and 440 rods are similar, depending on the length,6.860,7.000,7.100 etc. They usually do not differintiate hemi or wedge, just Chrysler rod.The stock hemi rods are definately way heavier and usually 6.860 length.

don't forget the nascar hemi boat anchor rods, they would be good to about 3000 rpm in a 440 before the massive centrifical weight sent it into catastrophic supernova, but, probably take 3 days to rev that high.....

Unless you are doing some sustained high RPM endurance/road race/circle track operation, I would pass on those heavy HEMI forgings. Overkill in a 6-6.5k RPM 440 motor. 440 spec MP rods, Scat, Eagle, Crower or even a good set of LY rods with ARP rod bolts would suffice. You want to have strength but have a lighter than factory bobweight spec on the rotating assembly.

bobs right...the only difference may be just the pin size...

Are you going to get custom pistons or put different bushings in the rods. Hemi wrist pins are 1.031 and wedge wrist pins are 1.094.

He said he had Eagle H beams , they are not really a lot heavier than the 440 rod other than .100 in length and the smaller pin bore.

To use the hemi length rod , as already said , you'll need a shorter piston and the pin size is probably different , but you can work around that.

The Eagle hemi and wedge rods are basicly the same rod.Pin diameter may be either .990 or 1.030 and weight only a few grams different in the various lengths. You can not compare them to the heavy hemi only forgings from Chrysler. The assembly needs balanced reguardless. The Eagle rod is lighter than the hemi rod by a large amont and lighter than the 440 rod.The hemi Nascar rod is should not be considered unless you have them and want to use them.

thanks for the info guys.I'm building a cheap street 440 with left over parts I have been collecting.New in the box Eagle rods I got with a bunch of HEMI stuff I bought.New 30 over JE pistons and fresh crank I got for $200 from a guy that lost his job, same with a pair of ported 906 heads that have 2.14 1.88 Manley valves I got for $100,Free block,so I might have $800 in it when I am done

Don't forget the machine work and wearable parts like main and rod bearings, piston rings and gaskest, oil and so on expences On the rods, if they are different on the wrist pin sizes than you need for the pistons you may be able to have a good machine shop like BG racing remove the wrong size bushings and rebush them to the size you need Have fun, take your time and do it correct so it will live
