383 stroker - 12/01/13 07:19 PM

I have a 383 block and looking at some stroker combos for my next build. My current combo is a 470 that has ran a best of 5.73 in the 1/8th so I do like the 3.9 crank. I am looking at the following:

1. 3.90 stroke, 6.700 rod and 4.310 piston for 456 c.i.

2. 4.25 stroke, 6.535 rod and 4.310 piston for 496 c.i.

Heads and cam are Indy SR's with a mild port, cam is 661 lift in and ex, duration is 275 at .050. This is what is currently on my 470.

Reason for the 383 is I have one and they are readily available.

Car weighs 2500 with driver and has a powerglide trans. This will be a back up shortblock for 2014 and will be used for the 2015 season.

Anybody running these combo's?

Did something fail in your current 470? Will 26 more cubes (496ci) really make the car quicker enough to justify cost?

I have 2 383 blocks and one is going to be a stroker for my next engine.I am looking at 484-496 cid.I would go with the 496 as your parts will support that size of a engine.
