Stock E body Tire size - 11/18/13 05:50 PM

Sorry guys, can't find it via search and due to reasons outside my control, I can't wait until I get home to look harder.. What is the maximum section width and tire height you can run on a stock wheelwell '73 E body with the springs in the stock location? Looking to go to a bias ply DOT tire, something like a Hoosier 28x11.5-LT or 29x11.5-LT.

Well first off drop the "LT" because that means Light Truck

I think you can fit a 29.5x11.5 QTP but I'm not 100%, might need to offset the springs for that.

My 70 Challenger cold take 275/60-15 tires on a 8" wide rim and 4,5" backspace on a original 8 3/4 axel !

Hey The last Challenger I did I put P275X60X15 on with a 15x8 Ralley wheels. Works great and looks great on the car. (A REAL MOPAR MAN )

Haha, here in MD they don't teach us to read real good in school.

Thanks y'all..it had 275/60 mickeys on it..since it got hit I'm going to a bias tire and (for the most part) taking it off the street. I may just end up getting the 29.5x11.5 and moving the springs in with offset hangers if it doesn't fit.

With doctor diffs kit and a b body rear end you can run a 10" wheel with 5.5" back spacing no problem! It's a bolt in too

I had this combo on my 70' Challenger with 295/50-15 on 8" Rallye's before I mini tubbed it into the frame rails. Now I can fit 315/60/15 Drag radials or a 29.5x10.5W on it.

On my '73 Challenger with stock 8-3/4", stock wheel wells, stock spring locations, I can fit a 10" rim with a 5.5" backspacing.

From the information you provided I would say you should be able to use the 28x 10.0, 10.5 or 11.0 (I didn't see a Hoosier 28x11.5). http://www.hoosiertire.com/specdrag.htm

I didn't see a 29x11.5 listed. However, from my experience a 29/9.0 or 29/10.0 should clear. Most likely anything greater than a 12.0 section width is likely to interfer especially with a taller tire.

Here is what I did. Just get the offset kit. It's worth it. And simple.
