KB Street Hemi Block Oiling - 11/09/13 01:49 PM

How are you guys getting your oil up in your KB Street Hemi block?
There's no holes in the cam journal area.
And do you recommend bronze lifter bores in a aluminum block?

By "up" I assume you mean up to the heads/rockers. Was the block drilled for Hydraulic lifters? It was the only extra cost item when I ordered my block. I had it done so I could use push rod oiling for the top end.

No, it was not drilled for hydraulic lifters.I got a external oiling kit from Ray Barton to go from the side of the block up to the lifter galley behind the bellhousing area with -3an braided line and fittings. Tap that with 1/8" threaded T fitting and from inside go to each side of the Barton T &D rocker shaft.
Not sure if I need anything else.

Were using -13 wedge heads with the spray bars on a KB block. I know a lot of folk prefer pushrod oiling but we've never had a problem in over 10 years.
-3 line from the side of the block then to a t piece and the fitting (restricted) on the valve cover to the spray bars.

Where is your restrictor located in the line?
This is good to know. This will be the first time I'm not using pushrod oiling and need to figure out which lifter to use.

The restrictor is located in the t piece that goes to the valve cover. The T piece is tapped and a drilled grub screw is fitted. Don't know what size it is drilled, comes with the Indy kit.

If you use the stock type hemi rockers it will be easier. Everything is already set up for that.
