I would call Calvert Racing and inform them of the issue and through question and answer of your current suspension parts I am sure they can tell you whats wrong and get you straightened out. Did the car do this before the CalTrac installation? Has rear ever been swapped? Are your centering pins still holding rear in correct alignment? Is pinion angle correct? There are so many issues that could relate to your problem. I would talk with Calvert and see if they can help unless someone on here has had it happen. I had that issue until I put on the CalTracs and now I don't have the issue. I am very pleased with mine.

Put the bars in the lower hole on the front mount if they aren't already. Start w/ 1/4 turn preload on both sides and tighten up the shocks.

The pinion angle is a combine driveshaft/pinion at 4' .
The car had ss springs before and 60 harder with those ,
Yes centering pins are in place and correct!
The rear was in the car since stock springs which happens to be a moser 60 .
we are trying to make these work,!
As for calling them that to has been done on several occaisions, thus we are at this point a, post here to see if any out here has had the same type issue !
I really thought that a post here would have come with advise as to where to look, ?
must have been mistaken !

Whats your front suspension like?

Something is obviously wrong somewhere as Cal tracs are a proven system. If you don't get your panties in a bunch real quick(see quote above) there is lots of great knowledge on here.

Thank you, frustration kicking in !
The front has been looked at to the point of removing shocks, checking for any tightness /binding in any part of travel. new 90/10 installed , rotors pads calipers removed replaced !
front shocks reset to easy out hard in !
new rubber pads put on lower, upper are the poly type that hit and been cut down for @ 6-7 inch travel .
The car goes straight as a string on leave everytime , the issue is in the 'bunny hop'
I have the option of putting the ss springs back on but the car will twist pull the left front while leaving the right on the pavement

How wide is your rear rim?
Are the tires stiff sidewall? tubes?
Air pressure?

Just from what I'm reading, it sounds like the tires are getting hit hard and they're too soft. You have a heavy car that seems to make good power...what kind of power is it making? Just sounds like it needs a stiffer/more stable tire.

12 rim new dot hoosiers, quick time pro, 30,13,15,
we had reg hoosier slicks 29.5 10.5 tire was told to try these .
air pressure has been from 18-10, the car does best at 15 !
it has been on a chassie dyno, and paid a guy 1200 to do what he called a super tune lol,
the car ran 3 tenths slower, he said it produced 485 hp at the rear lol!
And the setting almost put me in the wall drove hard right out of the gate.
I want to think that i am just over looking something easy simple here , just
need a liitle guidance

Make sure rear shocks have 1.5 - 2" of extended travel with rear springs fully unloaded.
Use lower hole in bar adjustment.
Add preload to the bars with driver or equiv. weight in seat. (I have 1/2 turn on left and 2 full turns on the right). Rear shocks worked best for me at #7 setting with the Ranchos. Verify rear spring hangers are pointing rearward and move easily.
I ended up going with AFCO double adjustable rear shocks for better results. Best 60' so far 1.33 on a well prepped track. Avg: 1.38...took lots of time and passes to get it consistant.

I had the same issue as you when I had chassis engineering 3ways on the front. calvert 90/10's and a loose front does wonders.
also, I was told QTP's like softer settings. 7 seemed to work well for me, but next time out I will try 5 and under.
i'v also found if your making under 600hp the bar may work better in upper hole. john calvert told me bar should be as level as possible. thought i'd just see for myself. put it in the top hole and went from 1.46-.49 to a 1.45-.47 so just try it and see what ya get. my car is an A body@3300#, so that may make a difference on the settings compared to mine.

Double adj rear shocks is whats needed.
What happens is that rear tire gets hit hard and goes to flat and then wants to go back to round and thats what the shocks cant control.
Hope this makes sence as my english cant explain it better.
With da shocks you can control both ways seperatly.
Meaning you can have it hit hard (soft) but still set it stiff at rebound to control the "bump back" movement.

Put alot more air in the tyres

Re: setting cal tracks with mono springs ? - 10/19/13 12:44 AM

I think it's a combo of the rear shocks and air psi in the tire's .
had a very similar thing going on with my car .
had e.t streets and could never get it to work.
did the double adj. shock and checked every thing still the same thing .
put stiff side wall slicks on and this is what I got.

Well your car is very close to the same as ours. I have them in the top hole. .060 gap on driver side and just touching on pass side. 9 ways on the rear also. have them on 7 right now. and have caverts 90/10 on the front. only shock I could get to work.
Makes me wonder if your rear shocks are bottoming out or extending so far ?

as it sits now the bars are in the mid hole with 0 degree in the bars but a 4 deg in the rear ,
the right bar has 1/2 turn pre load , while the drivers side ,( wiegth added for driver), is just touching.
the rear shocks are set in tightest setting. they are not bottoming out !
Rear tires have been run at 10-18 psi still does the bunny hop, could more air be better?

It's worth the read.

And a set of the D/A's if your making any kind of power with caltracs is the way to go...Couldn't get them adjusted on my car at first, but now I have no regrets with the money I spent there

One silly question. You didn't leave the pinion snubber on the diff did you?

which D/A's would you recommend? QA1,Strange or Afco.

Never really heard anything good about QA1 and had a friend get royally screwed by them...I like my Strange's, but the customer service was pretty bad and they were VERY rude when I had to get my shocks fixed and re-valved...Afco makes a good shock from what I have heard, with more adjustment then the stranges, but they are 100 bucks more each shock...Or you could pull out your wallet and get Santhuff's.

For the price I like my strange's though

Pinion snubbers are not needed with CalTracs. CalTracs replace them and are tons better.

Dennis I had the same issues ...my car same wgt 1.43 60' when sorted..It used to porpoise up and down and unload the rear tires

My biggest issue was the front end travel

measure from center of the rim to wheel well molding
Then jack up the car and with the wheels off the ground take the next measurement it should have at least 4 1/2 to 5 inches of travel ...
