we ran some comp cam roller lifters in our W5 motor. 50 passes into the new mill we had water leaking issues and tore the engine down. Didn't have anything to do with the water, but we did find four of the comp roller lifter bodies cracked. Went to thicker pushrods and some new lifters from IMM and the prob went away. No clue as to why they cracked, but could have been a harmonics issue rather than a product issue... or not. who knows. lifter bores not bushed, and pushrod oiled here too.

I'm using Cranes that could be used for pushrod oiling but I don't. Unbushed block, Trend pushrods and HS rockers.

The best lifter on the market will not last if the rest of the valve train is not up to par. That being said it is always good to buy the best lifter you can afford.
Also have the cam ground so you can run a tight lash.

I know this has nothing to do with anything but does anyone know how the solid roller engines get there sound like a typewriter or thrashing machine? It's like the
valve train starts speeding up going into a certain rythm lol. Does that have any thing
to do with the valve lash or the fact everything is a roller. Cam, lifters, rockers. I know it's the whole combo but it generally relates in the valve train.

This is the best answer so far in my opinion.

Don't skimp on the lifters and make sure the person setting up the valve train knows what they are doing. If you do not "control" the valve you will damage the lifters no matter what lifter you put in.
