Recommend BB cylinder heads?

Recommend BB cylinder heads? - 09/13/13 01:39 AM

With using the following criteria what cylinder heads do you recommend? I am thinking Indy 440ez heads but, I want more choices.

1. Aluminum

2. Stock exhaust port location- want to use TTI headers.

3. Stock intake port location- want to use a intake that uses stock intake opening- non Max wedge design.

4. Uses stock rocker arm locations- I don't wish to use offset rockers.

5. I will gasket match intake and heads.

6. What heads will give me max power (more potential) with previous mentioned criteria.

Thanks everybody,

AL

Thats what I wanted so I went with the EZ heads. Got a good deal from Dwayne Porter and I may want to port the heads more down the road so I felt the EZ's have more potential then the Eddy's when fully ported. Ron

The EZ's seem to have more potential than the RPM's, but you're really limited by sticking with stock offset rockers. If nothing else they have a better chamber.

I'd be looking very hard at Victors and just dealing with the offset since you're getting aftermarket rockers anyways. But it's not my car S/F....Ken M

I will partially agree with it limits your choices on which rocker arms by going with the EZ heads, but as far as performance goes, I think they are the bomb...especially for the price.

I am really impressed with the performance we have acheived with OOTB EZ1 heads so far, and we have not been pushing it. We do not run race gas, we don't launch anywhere near where we could, and we shift it well below the max, and these things run!

I would get a good set of rockers and a set of these heads and be done with it...IMHO. We have run against the guys running -1's and B1's with similar cars that generally run race gas, and we run right with them on pump gas.

RPM heads will make plenty of power if you're always going to stay with a standard port. The EZ heads require a special valley plate and they raise the intake up so hood clearance can be an issue. But they'll make more power and give you the option of switching to a MW port size down the road if you want.

There are decent low profile MW intakes such as the Mopar 337 if do decide to go that way. You didn't say why you wanted to stay with the standard port size so I'm just guessing it is becuase you want to keep a low profile or you want to re-use an existing intake.

I don't have any Indy stuff, and likely never will. But AndyF proves that the EZ's can run. I do have both Victors and B-1's. I have no idea of your setup, but you're doing well to run with guys running B-1's. But that said, they have to be about brain dead or sandbagging if they're not flat out running away from a stock window, pump gas motor. A 500" B-1 engine on race gas or alky will be 800+HP put together by Larry, Moe and Curly. No way will a stock port, stock rocker window get you there NA.

None of which applies to the OP. The EZ's seem to be the best for what he wants. Edelbrock was unwise in not improving the RPM chamber when they did the castings. I believe they're releasing a 75cc head, but I think it's simply smaller, not a better chamber. S/F....Ken M

i paid just over $1400 for my performer rpms from indy. i ordered them then picked them up at the nats last year to save shipping. with the research ive done with the victor intake little matching should be done but i will check mine as i assemble the 470.
