First outing with the 410 pump gas motor

First outing with the 410 pump gas motor - 08/27/13 02:19 AM

Went to the strip with my 410 ci Eddy head,10.5 to 1 pump gas, solid flat tappet motor and ran a 11.07 @ 121 and by the end of the weekend ran a 10.96 @ 122 lifting at the finish line.Best et was the 10.96 best 60 was 1.59 and the mph was 123.77Motor felt strong but was probably held back a little by the 750 carb.My 850 needs some work before I am going to try it.The 60 ft times were not the greatest but the slicks I was using were probably 4 years old and I think my old superstock springs are starting to weaken.I hadent raced with a pro tree in 7 years but I cut some good lights and we had a good time and drove it on the trailer.A great weekend.

Nice first outing! Now, tell us more:

1) Trans/Converter?
2) Car weight?
3) Rear gear?
4) Cam specs?
5) Heads??
6) Intake
7) Headers? Muffs???

Whew! That's all I think.

That is if you don't mind sharing...

Awesome! The 850 will definitely help. Making good power though with the 750.

The car is a 65 barracuda 3150 lbs 40 over 360 w/4" crank. The heads are home ported and assembled Eddys with all Crower locks, ret, springs, ect. The cam is a custom from Crower 602/624 262/274 @ .050 on a 108cl installed at 104 deg. This is a flat tappet solid cam.Intake is a Victor, these runs are with mufflers.Car is weekly street driven.Trans is a 904 w/4400 conv(9.5")/low 1st, footbrake,8-3/4 rear w/410 gear and a 9x28 slick.Tim at FHO did the machine work and helped with parts and me and my friend Cris(I don't know if he wants his name on here)Chime in,we did assembly and the rest of the parts. These guys are the best, thanks.

Most 950 carbs are actually 750's so there wouldn't be a difference.

That car should 60 foot 1.48 or so, if you pick up a tenth in 60 you will see two tenths at the finish line. You think I'm crazy but brush your tires with WD 40, yes I said that, if you don't believe me get an old tire, wash it with good, then put WD 40 on it, it will be as sticky as ever. You can save old slicks like this to get you by. After you get the car working right then start tuning the motor, to tune a motor when the chassis is off is wasting time.

Is that a guarantied rule that you gain 2 tenth at the line when going one tenth quicker in the 60?
Sorry to highjack...

What size headers?

I just had Stephen Duarity expertly mod a set of 1 7/8" TTI's to fit in the Rocky and couldn't believe the difference even off idle and part throttle compared to the too small 1 5/8" that were on the 414. Can't wait for a day off to go

The 1.59 sixty is a little weak. If you pick your 60 up you will be faster. As for the 850 helping I dont know how much but I can tell you we tried an 800 and an anular 830 on my sons 406 (.030 over 400) Dart and it ran the best with the 750 DP on it. Good luck and nice going. Ron

Re: First outing with the 410 pump gas motor - 08/28/13 01:53 AM

The car back in 04 would 60 ft 1.52 with a motor at the same power level.I have some work to do for sure. The headers are the 1-5/8 to 1-3/4 step TTI pipes,This motor is making the same amount of power(same mph)as my old motor but the old motor was a 12 to 1 with a solid roller in it.The old motor had to struggle to breath through 1-5/8 headers. These new headers are a big reason this motor works well. Now its time in the winter to do some suspension and tires and make some 10.60 runs in the spring.

Mopar Day?

I really wanted to go that day, but I have a baptism to attend

If my converter gets back this week, which is should, im going to stuff it back in the car and head out to St. Thomas this Saturday with my buddy for the test n tune from 11-4....I really really really want to see an 11.00 or high ten outta this thing

I might also be setting up a track rental/grudge day to for this year that should be under $150 per car if you are interested...just a heads up
