keith black alloy hemi block - 07/16/13 10:44 PM

Hi all, can anyone tell me how long the delivery is on a street hemi block? My engine builder has been waiting five months, does this sound right. Or am I being feed a little BS.

Ken black told me 10 weeks for one. That was last month. He said they are really stepping up their program and getting blocks out a lot quicker.
I filled out a build sheet and just faxed it to him.
Now I am rethinking my alternatives.

Ken (KB RACING ENG) is a member here. He checks in on posts like these.

I'm sure you will get a response from him..

Re: keith black alloy hemi block - 07/17/13 08:56 AM

Thanks for the reply's guys, "worth the wait", I sure hope so I'm getting a little tired of a engine less car sitting in the shed .
Long story short, this will be my 3rd engine two screwed up world blocks and did not wish to go back down that road, so KB is what I asked for this time around, but man the wait is getting a little long in the tooth. I ordered my first engine March 2010 got it Dec 2010. Got it going in Jan 2012 send it back in Feb. Got the replacement Sept 2012.
This engine the block cracked around inner head studs and was leaking water into the crank case, it went away in Feb this year and I was told then that KB production had stepped up. So here's to a long will bring the desired results.

I don't like to wait either, but I would rather wait on a Keith Black block than have one of the others today.

Yeahmate, We don't like to get between the builders and their customers but if you will send me an E-mail with the name of the builder you are using and what your engine block requirements are I might be able to get some information to you as to where your block might be and if it is in fact on order with us.

Same for you also Sammy. Please E-mail me with the name that the block is ordered under and I will let you know what I have. We just received 5 castings in last week with 2 more coming on Aug 2nd and then 2 more on Aug 7th with more after that.

I don't understand the delay in getting the product out the door with KB. My block took 7 months to my doorstep and it was promised in 12 weeks . I ordered a crank adapter that was in stock ( that took 2 months to ship )I ended up machining my own because I could not wait . They make a excellent product but just leave the customer high and dry with excuses

1- We are receiving blocks from the foundry next week

2- Your block is going into heat treat this week .

3- We are waiting for the main caps to line hone your block.

4-We are short handed this week you are next on the list .

5- Phone back next week $#% is out of the office and he does all the scheduling .

I will probably order a new one soon but I am ordering it now so it will be here for march next year.

Trust me well worth the wait! Ken was awesome to deal with, I had alot of one off stuff done to the block. I went down to LA and pick my block up and Ken took me for a tour of the facility. Saw alot of Ray Barton name tags.

Anyways I know it can be frustrating but it will be well worth being patient!

This is not a educated answer and this is not how you run a business. On second thought I will buy a BAE block or order a CN block .

Re: keith black alloy hemi block - 07/26/13 03:23 AM

My block took a little longer than first advised, but it is way nicer than the INDY stuff, and Ken stands behind his product and workmanship!!!

Hopefully people continue to buy the KB blocks and Ken can continue to improve on delivery times as they are the best choice for strong Mopar Blocks...

Cheers,

Arnie

Go Green, I am not sure what name you bought your block under when you ordered it from us but if you have one of our KB Street HEMI/440 blocks and you are talking about getting a BAE or a CN block then you are looking at a different style of block altogether. These are Forged/Billet blocks like our KB Stage 16 Fuel Block. If you currently have one of our KB 16 blocks and would like another one we can have one to you in 4-5 weeks Max in the standard NHRA Fuel configuration. Just fill out the order form that I will send you, and then send it back with a check for $8,600 and we will get it done and shipped to you. As far as an educated answer to your questions and how to run a business, there is no one more aware of our EXTENDED lead times than I am. I have always been up front with our customers as to where their blocks are at in the order process when they call and ask. It would take way too long in this post to explain what issues there have been to overcome but that's what you get when you decide to run a business. We are working at this with all the resources we have available. All I will say is that the old saying was never truer than in this case and that is "Walk a mile in my shoes" before you judge me or the company as you really have no idea. Let me know when you are ready for that form as I will be more than happy to send it to you. Above all we do appreciate your business and will continue to work at getting more quality product out with shorter lead times. Constructive suggestions are always welcomed. Ken Black
