should i block power valve - 07/13/13 10:50 PM
should i block power valve in primary race only car. secondary is already blocked. it's a 1050 quick fuel ser 4150.
Quote:I use one ( on the primary side only ) in a race only application. IMO, it keeps the plugs cleaner idling around the pits, on the return road, and in the staging lanes.
On a race only engine, a power valve isn't necessary if the carb is set up properly. I've seen guys use them, but more as a crutch when they have another problem.
If you do decide to block it off, you'll need to increase the primary jets. A good starting point is go Square.
Give Quickfuel a call. They can get you pointed the right direction and save you some trouble/time and money.
Paul.

If you're not pulling a vacuum at WOT there's no reason to block the PV.

I don't like power valves on a Race engine.A race engine with high CR & big cams & lots of timing is going to spit back through the carb at times cranking and thats the end of the PV!An its seems like some times they have a mind of their own and can open & close as they please.
Power Valves=Trouble!!!!!
