trw 2293 383 build - 07/09/13 03:06 PM

doing a 383 for a pulling truck.

i have a set of .030 trw dome l2293 pistons and need to know what to cut the block for. want to be in the 12.5-13.1 and will be running VP110 or sunco 112.

what deck height do i want for a stock stroke and rod length motor with a cam around .550 lift and minimum fly cutting on the pistons. heads are 915 with 2.14/1.81 valves

Sorry I cant answer but I wish TRW would sell those pistons again, even if they are 50 lbs a slug, good find. They sell every other out of date piston they used to make

I have ran those pistons in both of my 383's. One had the .557 MP cam and the other runs a .630 roller. Neither required fly cut but couldn't go any bigger.

I have found sets of them on ebay for $50. I'll probably use them again in my next 383 as well and spend that $800 on better heads.

I ran them on eagle rods and getting clips/locks for the pistons pins was the tricky part.

You ned to check the cylinder heads for what size CC they are now and then decide what deck hieght is needed for the compression ratio you want along with what CC head gaskets you need also I would mock the motor up wth one piston and the cam and lifters and set the lobe seperation timing where I wanted it and then check the piston to valve clearances to see if the pistons need clearancing or not and then do the math to get the deck hieght cut where you want them

what was your deck height?
