Instruction Sheet For Plug and Play Elec Dist Firecore - 07/08/13 01:32 AM

I am ready to order one of these but would like to see what is involved in setting the advance curve. Cant seem to find any details in some of the other posts about them.

There is no instruction sheet that I know of so far. What type of curve do you need? These units run pretty good with the springs already installed and most of the time you only need to adjust is total mechanical advance with Phillips screwdriver. If you have ever changed the springs on a Mopar distributor you can work on this one.

Mainly just adjusting the mechanical advance. I have changed the springs and set the slot length in the advance plate on the Mopar distributors. I need 20 deg intital and 16-18 mech. So I assume that adjusting the Phillips screws is comparable to dialing in the slot length in the advance plate on the Mopar distributors?

Go to Mopar Muscle's website and look at my article," Distributor Testing Evenly Distributed "
There is a picture of the mechanical advance with everything else removed so you can see it.

Ok, I took a look at those pics. The springs look pretty straightforward as far changing those.

I would just adjust the mechanical first.I have the tall mechanical race unit in my car and I only needed to limit the total advance 10 degrees my base is 22 and 32 total. Took me about 5 minutes to dial it in

Yes, all you have to do is loosen the screws and change the slot length. I just put a plug and play Firecore in my Charger a few weeks ago. Replaced the old MP unit. Ended up with 25deg initial and 36 total, no vac advance hooked up.
