I sell helmets and can say that Simpson is the way to go, Bell good too but I like Simpson--full face for dragsters--Simpson has two sets cheek pads so you can adjust the "feel" and the inner liner is better than others. There are more choices for assec's as well and most are Hans ready. Also..real Nomex inside--others....not so much. The Voyager is good deal with wide opening for vision, better than others by far. Get Snell rated NOT a cycle helmet.
Aero styles are said to help against helmet lift so you may want to consider that .

Yeah I understand what is a good helmet and your point about helmet lift is what iam looking for as this is my first open car and not looking to buy 3 or 4 helmets to find one that wont rip my head off looking back or sideways for bracket racing/super comp. You drive a dragster? Thanks

I have used g-force. It does not lift off of my head as long as I don't forget to drop the visor.

I typically leave with it up and lower it slightly after launch. I had it fog once too many times on me.

I had a Gforce and the helmet lift was terrible at 1/4 mile speeds but the helmet did fit me rather loose. Impact Draft was the best helmet I ever wore driving a dragster, no lift and oh so comfy at 186mph!
Impact also has the best shields available. Blue Iridium for that bright florida sun.

Bandit I believe. But as you know I was not bracket racing so I bet there's better designs for that.

What did you used to live up here?

I have a Simpson Diamondback. While I have not personally used it yet in an open cockpit car, I have friends that do and they have no complaints at speeds ranging from 150 to 250+

Give it a look, Hans compatible.

my draft was non-carbon fiber but is still the most comfortable helmet i've ever worn....loved it in the roadster and yes the visors kick butt....i have clear, yellow and blue irridium.....liked the blue best during the day and the yellow at night....never used the clear

1.The most important thing is getting one that you are comfortable wearing.2.Next you have a choice of a wide or narrow view, myself I prefer the wide view.3.Next the lighter the better, but the lighter the higher priced.
4. If you pick the size opening wide or narrow that you like best and a helmet that fits comfortable, not all helmets fit well on everyone or at least not for me.As long as you buy one with that meets NHRA & IHRA requirement for your class/speed you will be fine!
PS I have been Racing dragsters since the mid 90's.

I think the "Air" versions of Impact helmets is marketed towards door car crowd with a fresh air intake/filter system but I could be wrong. It happened once before

I too prefer the large eye opening, I like to see everything around me especially since I race alone. They are not cheap but buy once cry once and you'll have a great helmet for 10+ years!

Can't wait to see the new ride, you must be pumped!
