Which plug wires withstand heat best?

Which plug wires withstand heat best? - 05/12/13 05:33 PM

I currently have MSD 8.8 wires. I noticed cracks in my #6 lead that runs between my headers and block.

I will need to buy a new set and am looking for options.
I have HEI style terminals.

I've had good luck with Taylor, run themVERY close to headers and they take the heat well. Firecores seem to be the top brand here on Moparts but have never ran them.

Doc---what the hell does Holley have to do with this thread?

Please give me a call. 866-973-9473. What type of engine? Do you have a pic of your number 6 spark plug area for a reference? We have specific wires and boots for nearly every application. Thank you.

1963 413 in a 74 Plymouth Satellite with full length headers. (not sure what brand) Looks like these. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/hed-78...model/satellite
I need to see if I can get a picture. The engine is currently out of the car but I think if I bolt the header on it will give you an idea.
I have absolutely no room between the inner fender and the 1st tube that runs over the top. I have to run 2,4,& 6 through the front undeneath. #8 runs topside along valve cover intake side.
#6 burnt right where it curls up to head towards the plug. I'm thinking I may need a heat sleeve of some sort.

When is best time to call?

i've used many different wires over the years, the Taylors are extremely good at taking heat, even if they're touching a tube they'll last a while. currently i'm using the Moroso lead, it's been very good & i now run my leads under the headers so when they get hot, they sag away from the heat.

I have used Taylor , Moroso and Firecore and have never burnt any of them as they are all good wires to me. I really like the Fircore wires I use now the best of them all. Ron

Does anyone like fire core sell a mixed set? My SBM with hookers I used all straight boots except on 5 and 7 I used a 90° to run down and come around the tube. It gets difficult finding just two 90's every time
