Without knowing much, I'll guess 540hp. And torque around 610.

600 HP and 640 Ft lbs on pump gas

Not enough. It never is. I can only guess zero with the engine off since you didn't give no clues to nothing. A cadillac 500 pump gas hydraulic made around 290 hp. Get the point?

Cam size?
Compression Ratio?
Head Work?
Carb size?

Re: New engine dyno numbers???? E street - 05/04/13 04:19 AM

Well it's a hughes 569/576 lift. heads have some port work .10.8:1 compression . She made 592hp @ 5500rpm and 648tq @ 4100 rpm . 4 speed full street car

What size carb. did you do the dyno testing with? Did you do any timing and jetting testing?

Been considering building a similar engine. Curious what lifters, valve springs and rockers you used. Graph doesnt "look" like the power fell off after peak due to any lifter pump or float. Ive been considering a Howards .600 lift hydraulic roller.

Re: New engine dyno numbers???? E street - 05/04/13 11:44 AM

It's an old 850 holley . And yes we did spend the day playing with timing and jetting . It made the power with 35 degrees in it on pump gas...
And can lifters and springs is all from Hughes .

Those are nice numbers. That should put your mph solidly into the mid 120s and et in the 10s.

I hope you have some good drive line parts . Good numbers .

Nice numbers!

On another note, I don't really get the deal with the E Streets. They same to have the same specs as the RPMs and cost the same. Some of the hardware they put on them is different right? I don't get why they have two different offerings that are so similar.

Re: New engine dyno numbers???? E street - 05/04/13 03:54 PM

They are identical except for the springs which were changed anyways EDELBROCK says that the rpm and estreets are made from the same castings and just wanted to offer a small chamber head to improve low compression street motors. I got mine when they first came out on sale for quite a bit less than the rpm

What CC are those heads?

Re: New engine dyno numbers???? E street - 05/04/13 04:15 PM

84cc with port work and some bowl work

Re: New engine dyno numbers???? E street - 05/04/13 04:45 PM

I thought that they came with 75cc chambers? If so, then 84cc now would mean a lot of bowl work.

What does bowl work have 2 do w/chamber cc`s?

Nothing....mis-spoke.

Still, I thought they had 75 cc chambers.

Isn't the combustion chamber in the head the same as the bowl?

Sure

Bowl is up stream from the valve .....towards the carb on intake , exh on exh.
The typical choke point in a lot of heads and where big gains can come from when porting.
Chamber = pocket on combustion face of cylinder head deck area where valves & spark plugs hide.

Cool Mike, I remember meeting you up at the Heavenly Donut in Derby. You built your stoker. Was that 833 an 18 spline?

Re: New engine dyno numbers???? E street - 05/06/13 07:12 AM

Ya the old motor was just an old truck motor. nothing fancy. Shoul be interesting with a new 500 stroker and stock 23 spline lol ......... Hmm I trying to remember ... What car did u bring to The doughnut

Re: New engine dyno numbers???? E street - 05/06/13 04:18 PM

Mike I probably didn't have a car with me since mine has been out of commission for about 2 years now (for about another month or so only, hopefully!) but I've got a gold '67 Satellite with a 440/4 speed.

Good luck with the 23 spline. I'm going to be pushing one soon too with my stock stroke 440, looking to be around 550 hp so I'll be a bit safer than you with the stock stroke and less torque, but still looking to put the hurt on it (and the 8 3/4 behind it). I've got 3 so I'm prepared to break one, trying to trade up for an 18 spline though.

You did have a 4.10 Dana though as I recall. You running a scatter sheild?

Re: New engine dyno numbers???? E street - 05/06/13 09:44 PM

Ya Dana w 410 for now. Probably go with 3.73 soon. It will probably run out of gear at the track.

I'll bet you shift it into 4th about 1000 ft. or so, no where near maxing the RPM out in high gear Of course that all depends on what RPM you shift it at in the other three gears After looking at your dyno print out I would probally try shifting it at 5500 RPM for two runs and then at 6000 RPM and see what the car likes the most

Will do . I think 5700 may be best . Hopefully ill find out soon. I don't want to over rev this thing going through the lights.

Re: New engine dyno numbers???? E street - 05/06/13 11:29 PM

You'll trap about 5600 at 125, plus or minus a few.
