Possible ET's with 3.23's

Possible ET's with 3.23's - 04/09/13 05:57 PM

I ran my 67 Barracuda at MATS and was shocked with 12.35's. Giving the change from 12.80's at Topgun, I am thinking that 12.0's are possible at Sacramento. Has anyone run 12.0's at sea level in a SB car with 3.23's? No juice or turbo please! My car weighs 3300 with me in it.

3 and 1/2 tenths is going to be hard to make up w/o engine upgrades. I'm sure people have run 12/0's w/ 3.23's. Are you even getting into 3rd/ last time I raced w/ 3.23's it was in a 383 Charger and I went thru the traps in 2nd.

Vegas to sea level I would expect to see a .3 gain due to elevation change. No engine mods necessary.

3 tenths is about what I lost going to vegas from sea level. You might even crack the 11's

My 71 360 Demon went 10.72 in Sacto last september...last weekend at MATS in Vegas it went 11.02...with no engine upgrades...LOL

3 tenth difference is about it..

What converter? I bet you might be able to pick it up with a bit of converter change and better launch.

1.65 60', 107 MPH. Full exhaust with 12 X 2.5 Summit glass paks in the tail pipe, 2500 Stall converter. I'm so broke that I can't even pay attention. No mods any more. I think I am going to have a long wait to sell it. It's one that you have to really like to buy.

i race at Vegas a couple of times a year. Compared to Sac. and Infinion,my 11.0 car averaged 11.37 at Vegas. With a 1.65 sixty you are capable of 11.80 at Sac if air is around 2000.

10.45/135 with a TF and 275 ET Street radials, 10.44/130 with a RPM headed big block and a PG weighing 3600 lbs.

Here is a video of the RPM headed engine running for the first time, both pump gas and fully street legal of course.

I went 6.43 in the 1/8 last weekend with 3.50 gears and have run a best of 6.34 with 5.14's last year. So gears do not make a big of a difference as I thought they did, in my case anyway. Pump gas small block at 2950 lbs.

I've always ran 8 inch converters and 4.30-4.56 gears. The Duster I'm building now is getting a 500" pump gas big block, 9.5" street converter, 3.55 gears, and a 26 or 27 inch tall tire. I want to be able to drive the thing to the track and run 10's.

It appears that there is general consensus.

But to use some science, we need the DA when you ran, or tell us the day and time you ran (I don't know what MATS is) as the DA is available online, and we can simply tell you the weather conditions needed at Sacramento to run a 11.99.

Re: Possible ET's with 3.23's - 04/11/13 03:55 AM

Once in my bracket racing past I ran all three tracks on almost consecutive weekends:

Sac 10.41
Fallon 10.98
Vegas 10.70

Sonoma one month earlier it went 10.38 FWIW...

I recall a 69 Bee in the ads with a 496, baby cam, stock 340 converter and 3.23's that claimed 11.90's. Seems very do-able with your 60' numbers.

Regardless...how fun. Road trip to Vegas, low 12's and road trip home!

Yup...the 71 Demon

Top Gun 11.30s
Vegas 11.00s
Sacto 10.70s

Pretty much sums up the air..no air tracks...LOL

bet the combo would like a tight converter with about 1000 more stall RPM....I wouldn't be shocked if you got a couple tenths with that change
