what happend?

what happend? - 03/30/13 11:20 PM

i took apart a 496 rb it has mabey 20 passes but got some water in it.all i did was cross hatch it and rering it,the berings look good and the journals all look real good.heres the delema.when i put one rod on there isnt enough room for the other one.i even took 2 end caps and went down the line and they dont fit on any journal.yes i numbered everthing to go back together.

I am not sure I understand what you are saying. You mean two rods won't fit on one journal ?

I'm thinkin you have the rod turned backwards and the
camfer on the bearing is hitting the crank radius
EDIT
if the rod is right then you put the bearing in wrong..
you put the top in the bottom and visa versa

Yeh, but there for a while i though i was in the TWYLIGHT ZONE.

Don't feel too bad, on my last 440 build, I had 4 of the rods backwards, those little spirolocks were a pain to take apart again.

Most stock Mopar rod bearings don't need to be in the upper or lower positions only, not so on the BB Chevy and most of the race rod bearings
