Buy good parts and assemble them correctly All kidding aside, don't skimp on the torque converter, valve train parts, cylinder heads and fuel system BigC.i. motors make more torque and HP than smaller motors do Stroke it in other words, make it big

Ditto what Cab suggests. Shoot for closer to 500 HP at the crank to give you some reserve in hot weather conditions if you are running a 7.0 index class. Stroker small blocks rock!

Yup, about 500 hp should get you there. My car is a little heavier (3200 ish) and runs in the 6.9's when it is 95+ degrees outside.

Small block stroker, ported eddy heads, 10.8:1 compression, pump gas, small solid roller cam, Victor intake, small 750dp carb, 727, 8" converter, 4.10 gears, 28 x 10.5 street slick.

This combo is pretty easy on parts and works well.
