Bracket Motor Horsepower ?? - 03/07/13 03:45 AM
In the heat and humidity of Arkansas how much horsepower will i need to run 7 flat in the eighth mile with a 3100 pound car. And tell me how to get there with a small block.
Thanks

Your HP computed from your vehicle ET is 457.43 flywheel HP and 411.68 rear wheel HP.

Ditto what Cab suggests. Shoot for closer to 500 HP at the crank to give you some reserve in hot weather conditions if you are running a 7.0 index class. Stroker small blocks rock!

Yup, about 500 hp should get you there. My car is a little heavier (3200 ish) and runs in the 6.9's when it is 95+ degrees outside.
Small block stroker, ported eddy heads, 10.8:1 compression, pump gas, small solid roller cam, Victor intake, small 750dp carb, 727, 8" converter, 4.10 gears, 28 x 10.5 street slick.
This combo is pretty easy on parts and works well.
