Do these lobes look OK? None of them are rounded, but they all have the same wear pattern. Cam has 700 miles and 40 or so passes.

Get out your mic and measure the lobes top and sides see how much wear you have

The "shiney" area on the nose of the lobe is shinier and wider than Ive seen on my other used cams..fwiw.

I think unless a cam is extremely low duration that's not possible by directly micing the cam. With the lobe at 12 o'clock the 3 and 9 positions are well off base circle.

A person could measure the lift with the cam still in a block very accurately though.

Besides, virtually ANY measurable wear is a bad cam, as once it starts to go it goes very fast, and usually looks pretty ugly (scoring, galling) in the process.

Need better pictures ...

Get a magnifying glass and look at the surface that is worn , what you are looking for is ANY type of pitting . A shiny pattern like that is normal , that is where the lifter is riding , unless the block was bushed it is more than likely not the same from lobe to lobe , that is the geometry of the bores in the block .

when i measure cams, i use two blocks of wood with 'v' cuts in them and bolt on a degree wheel, using dial indicator to measure from lobe to lobe. magentic base on a steel bench, altho i have used just a plate to mount the base.
