727's and 1000 ft / lb plus? - 02/16/13 10:05 AM

As the thread implies, what do I need for inside a 727 for survival and reliability at that level?
Any experiences?

Only thing I have ever broke was I took the splines out of an aluminum planet gear assembly. replaced with steel spline and never had a problem .
Of course you need a bilit drum ,A low band apply valve body. As said a sprag. I also run the roller rear drum but I don't think it is a must.

3345 lbs and just over 1000 ft tq

Oh ya a good convertor .

Good luck

Monty, a nitrous racer that used to post on hear said he started breaking output shafts at about that level. It is possible that the torque he had was higher than that due to the nitrous.

Sharp as ever Fred

Tig,
There a few folks I have read or spoken too, that have had success with High Hp/Torque combos running 727's. Even with the best of parts, they seem to all need regular maintenance or consistently need to be checked over.

I hate to say it but I miss those days , I never had an issue with missing gears , CO2 bottle going empty , I actually liked to use the push buttons . But I wanted to update to the newer stuff .... you know the story . Gary

Hi, thanks for the replies
I have some good stuff in it at the moment. Billet drum, 5 pinion steel planetary (front), bolt in sprag (standard # of elements though) LBA MVB etc etc.
I was going to add H/D or billet I/p and O/p shafts and hope for the best.
I don't mind the maintenance, how often were they pulling it apart Mark? That having been said, I just rebuilt mine after 4 seasons and it didn't really need it. The current motor is not into 4 figures though.
Do I need to do more?
I'd rather not go to a th400
TIA.
Tig
