can u run E85 through it? and when I say street car i mean drag car that you cruise once in a while

The mechanical fuel injection system does not have the ability to instantly add fuel like a carb (no accelerator pump). So it would be difficult to drive on the street - bog at even the slightest the touch of the throttle from idle, followed by a sudden surge of power.

Yes they have one that is for E85. I seriously doubt that you could run it on a street car. Give James Monroe a call there in Indy. 812-327-1190. Tell him that Eric Paul sent you.

Never tried it with gas or on the street, but I have run the Ron's systems before and loved it for racing.

if it's low cost you seek, i would recommend looking at howell efi or holley.

i think howells mpfi can barely handle a 500" motor. the tbi is 1/2 capable, but call them and check.

you could get howell's tbi system for about 1100 and add a second fuel pump + throttle body perhaps from eBay. it's cheaper and safer than megasquirt ... i think mopars have to use universal, but amc V8s have specific kits at howells. go figure.

dont assume more expensive kits run good "out of the box" -- none do.

in theory, even a tbi would probably be better for a blown car than a specially prepped carb.

I don't know the streetability of it, but I would think the instant supply of fuel of an injection system would be better than a carb's accelerator pumps. And the "Terminator" throttle bodies should be even better than the "Flying Toilet" for part throttle use.

Read the post I have on my uncles car and e85 we've only run it one week end but I can tell you throttle response is instant from 500 rpms and this is with a big chevy with square port heads and .700 lift roller.I dont see why you couldnt run it on the street I do not think fuel milage would be great because it has to be rich at idle and part throttle to over come the lack of any king of enrichment.

I tried using the toilet system with a blow-thru setup. I was using alcohol not gas or E-85, and it was a race car not a street car. The blow-thru toilet worked, but a BOV is NEEDED. The throttle blade is large enough that when the throttle was snapped shut at the big end, there was enough pressure on the blade to bind the throttle shaft, sticking the car at about 3/4 throttle. This problem did not appear until most of the way through the season. So apparently the pressure was wearing the throttle blade pivots, or had bent the throttle shaft.

A BOV would have bled off the extra pressure and should have prevented this problem. A the time I purchased a Terminator throttle body, figuring the smaller blades and better shaft support should cure the isse, but never got around to installed it (still on the shelf).
