Depends on what you expect out of it. I run motors with worst looking cy walls.

I dont know about rebuilding but why not pull the
pistons and hit it with a deglazer and check the rings
before you throw the pistons back in.... JMO

The only reason I suggest pulling the pistons is...
I would think you plan on putting it in a nice ride and
I dont like having to pull a engine back out if something
goes wrong... you have the heads off already...
whats one more day.... yes that spot isnt bad but
it would be my luck it has a issue, plus I'd look
at the bearings... if it all looks good.. put it back
together and have a clear mind about it... but thats... JMO

Exactly............saw a "finished" block from some [Edited by Moparts - Family Friendly Site - Keep it clean] up here that a buddy was putting together that had bad rust in a couple of cyls and Rick the [Edited by Moparts - Family Friendly Site - Keep it clean] machinest told him it was fine cos the rings would scrub through it and seal fine. I personally would do as Mike says and de-glaze or even ball hone the block. Rings are designed to seal not scrub rust away........

What happens with all the stuff flying around from ball honing 1 cylinder with the rest of the eng. together and what if you go to deep and hit the crank. I wouldn't ball hone without taking the short apart and cleaning everything before re-assembly.

I wasn`t talking about in car I was refering to it being taken apart then ball honed or better yet although more money, have it properly honed at a shop.

Put the piston with the stain at bdc, turn the motor on an engine stand so the piston is upside down, clean with a scotch brite as best you can, wipe clean, and put it together.

I have had cylinders that looked like that and just used a ball hone to break the glaze. I would be more worried about the rings on that piston. When I pulled the piston out of mine the rings were stuck where the water was. I used a small screw driver to pop the rings out, removed them , cleaned the grove and the rings up and reinstalled. { Did I say I was cheap } Didn't have any problem with the engine.
