It's going in a tube chassis 91 Daytona that should end up pretty lite.
As far as the power we will see but that guess should be pretty close

I have never measured them but it looks like the intake port is about an inch raised and the exhaust is raised about a 1/4.

Re: Scotty/Dustedu's 440 W9 rp - 12/25/12 05:01 PM

Now that is an engine!

Certainly has the proper ingredients to put up some big numbers.

Clean, sanitary assembly - very nice job

With todays parts being so nice, why would you build anything else?

Thanks for sharing! Will be looking for more updates!

I don't mind it made 1030@8400 & 718ftllbs @ 7100
This was best pull we managed to get before we ran outta fuel. We didn't have but one five gallon pail and it went quick warming engine and sealing rings. I believe it has more in it we didn't change much we moved timing down two degrees and it lost 15hp/ went up 1.5 from starting timing and it responded with 22hp but we were out of fuel by then. It was also on rich side, we didn't even get to try a jet change. I'm not 100% sure but I believe it has at least 1050 in it!

Thanks again Laverne for the small block of my Dreams!
Also need to thank Curtis Boggs, Steve Lowe, John Beck and VDL fuel systems

Re: Scotty/Dustedu's 440 W9 rp - 03/03/13 03:40 PM

Here's a spreadsheet with numbers copied from dyno sheet, the actual dyno sheet had a higher correction factor than we used on this spreadsheet, after entering the weather data in several calculators we feel this is correct.

Posted By: W5DART66

Re: Scotty/Dustedu's 440 W9 rp - 03/03/13 04:29 PM

What was the weather the day/time you tested?

Why did you pull the engine so slow? Build like this should be done at 600 rpm per sec

Slower pull will show more HP most of the time.

I think raw # are closer to what this engine really will make in the car going down the track.

Killer engine anyway you slice it can't wait to see how it runs in the car.

Good job Lavern and Scotty
Posted By: Dustedu

Re: Scotty/Dustedu's 440 W9 rp - 03/03/13 06:45 PM

Weather was bad, a front was moving through with severe thunderstorms, Tony was suspicious of the correction factor so we changed it to match calculator. Some of the data is on the sheet...
I would have to ask Tony why he pulled it slow

We' ll see soon what it has on the track, Not Gonna argue...thanks for your insight though

Also need to talk about belt drive gimme a call/ check pm
