Protecting header coatings during installation.. - 12/19/12 08:10 PM

Anybody got any tips? I plan on having my headers coated but they are hard to install without bumping SOMETHING during the process...you all know how roomy a-bodies are lol. Any kind of protective tape or ideas?

I just took an old bed sheet and wrapped it around the header when I lifted the header up into the engine bay. Easy solution and it worked out great, no scratches or marks.. also makes it easier if you have another set of helping hands...

Towels or anything like it.... BUT the coating is
harder than the paint job so cover the paint instead
of the headrs

I had good luck with a pillow case. You can pull it off after they are up in position.

Duct tape on all the header pipe peripheral edges and exposed corners/ bends.

Duct tape is what i use too. Run it long ways with the pipes on all pipe curves.
