anyone here set up a pair of 1050,s work on street? - 12/15/12 10:04 PM

Can give more detail but motor is a tunnelramed 426 hemi 600ish solid roller with pair of 1050,s 3 circuits
carbs are matched off a race only motor and are decent carbs being rebuilt before
want to be able to drive to local hangout and back home(not a race car)
what's a fair price to have the pair done?

If there stock Holley original three circuit carbs. they will run really rich at part throttle Really rich like 11.0 to 11.5 AFR or worst You might want to send them to a good custom carb. shop and have them set up for your car for street use I have dyno tested and then raced and modified several Holley three circuit HP 1050 Dominator,9375-2 List #. I had to reduce the intermediate fuel feed and the idle fuel feed to clean them up, I also had to greatly enlarge the intermediate air bleeds to get a bog out of them when foot brake drag racing them before changing the fuel feed circuits Everything mechanical is fixable BTW, what are the list # on both of your carbs? Or are they custom built carbs. built by a carb. shop by someone other than Holley? It can and does makes a difference

This is probably not the popular response but that's about one dominator carb more than the engine needs. My 605 only uses about 1400cfm at max rpm. It would run much better with a pair of 600's-650's.Dave

This may be a silly question, but could you unhook one, run just the one? I know the fuel distribution would be crap, but if you are just running to the store or wherever, would it work decent enough??

I agree, though, it is way over kill for a street car. But the looks are great.

You could easily make it work. Get a wideband and start tuning.
Will have to jet the transferslots way down, open up the idle air bleed, remove the int air bleeds, jet the int fuel jets down to .020, add power valves, jet the primaries way down. That should do it.

There is a linkage cam for tunnel ram use for the dominator. Changes the progression so you can run more on the front barrels. I use this on mine. I have used BLP from Andy Fs book. They sent me boosters, metering blocks, air bleeds and got me very close. Cannot remember the cost without digging through paperwork.

Never heard of these cam before
but knowing how the dom. works would see how that it would be helpful in a non all out mode
where can a person find out more about it?

Found the box in the garage. 20-6 is the Holley part number on the progressive linkage kit for the older dominators. They give you a little more time on the front barrels then the soft progressive. You may want to call holley and see what linkage came standard in your carbs. The 8896 I used have soft progressive from the factory.
