Which would you rather have?

A 63 Plymouth savoy that looks like a stock max wedge car that you could drive anywhere and and run 11.50's. Or one that looks stock on the outside with one of the muscle motors king wedges, most likely run 9.50 easy just not near as street able.

The 11.50 car. For me more fun and alot less headaches and wallet aches.

I would rathe have one that looks like this and runs 10.70's on pump thru the exh. And is very streetable as I drive it everywhere and drive it to the track most of the time unless I race real far from home and worry about a way home if I break. Ron

Unfortunately either is quite expensive.

Ron if I go the max wedge replica it will be exact except for 511 ci and D Porter cam. No roll bar thus the 11.50,s. I have most the engine parts to do that.

My old 1963 Bebevdere 2 dr.sedan 415 HP M.W. NHRA legal stocker ran 11.23 at 119.6 MPH the last time it ran with me as the owner, it had to weigh 3540 lbs with the driver to fit into B/SA back then. My 440 short block 1963 2Dr. HDTP with the 1963 heads and 1964 carbs ran low 11.s and high tens weighing 3580 with me in it, no trck parts in either motor My point is a 511 or 512 C.I. short block with stock iron 1962-63 M.W. heads and stock type intake and carbs. will run mid to high tens all day long on pump gas in a half way decent 1963 savoy Put the bar in and go have some legal fun My Duster weighs 3450 lbs with me in it and it has ran high nines on pump gas with the air cleaner and exhaust system on with my 518 C.I. 400 block with Indy M.W. intake non ported SR heads and a 400-3 single 4500 intake and a single 1050 Dominator, big C.I. motors with decent heads make good power and torque The trick, hard part, is to hook it

Rather have a 64

The Dovark springs should be good for mid to low 10"

Cab I agree it's going to be a challenge to keep it in the 11.50's But the plan is to use the stroke so i can keep the stall tight and the gear in the 3.55 range. Camshaft in the 240 at 50 range with .550 lift. All this and with stock exhaust manifolds and full exhaust. Drag week is on my bucket list and that is what this build would be geared toward. If it looks an sounds like a stock max wedge, cruises 70 mph at 2600 and runs 11.50's just dropping pressure in the tires and adjusting the shocks I would be happy.

As far as hooking it goes I have some Dvorak springs. I think those along with strange double adjustables on all 4 corners will fill the bill.

Nss Guy I like them all. The 63 330 Dodge is my favorite. But a black 63 savoy with Alibaster and black interior will have to do.

Bsb67 I have been impressed with your charger for quite a while and inspired this variation for my 63 savoy.

Re: Which would you rather have? - 12/13/12 02:55 AM

I dont know why so many shy away from a 6 point bar. I put mine in myself and it makes me legal to 10.0's with a stock firewall. And the thing is if you ever want to remove it then its no big deal. All I would have to do is cut the bars off at the floor and then grind it flat. Once carpet is back in the car no one would ever know it had a bar at one time. But I never plan to take mine out as I dont plan to ever go faster then 10.0's but I may work it down to 10.20's or so over the years. Its worth it to me as that way I can let it run in the 10's with no hassle and be NHRA and street legal. Its not to bad with the 6 point bar driving on the street. I do agree if I had a full cage in it that it would be a little hassle driving on the street. Ron

I like 'em both. My dad did the styling renderings for both at Chrysler. Very proud of both his designs. He did the triangle Dodge emblem as well. Me, I'm trying to go low nines with the 64 and look stock. I already have a 11.0 street car, even if it is a Volare.

Very cool! definitely something to be proud of.

I'd say gimme the look of an 11.50 car, limited equipment, no bar and the 9.50 slip. Love sleepers and hell, sketchy can be fun.
