Anyone know this car's history ? Just curious.

"Kahl Custom"---- Back around 1974-'75 there was a guy naamed Henry Kahl, I think the spelling was the same, that worked in Elmont N.Y. for a place called "Corvette City" . He & another guy built cars & did airbrush work for us locals. Henry had a SW that was done by "Greg of Akron", the painter of Bobby Yowell's cars. When I lived back there, his car was sponsored by "Dr. Pepper" the soda co. & IIRC, had a destroked 396 Hemi & 4-spd. The car was real nice but had a much simpler paint scheme. My guess is if it's the same guy he re-did or had Greg re-do his car after I moved from the area. The clues that tell me this is the front license plate (same as when I saw the car, the spelling & the Dr. Pepper decal placement was the same as was the scoop.
Is the car still around?

How much?
Quote:To anyone interested in looking at the car,I saw it at BGR a few years ago and it suprised me how nice it was then. I was thinking about putting my small block stroker in it. But then I thought it probably would be better to sell my stuff and put a Hemi in it to make things right. Its really a cool car. I think about that car all the time. If I ever get over my health issues I think N/PS would be a cool thing to get involved in.Quote:Quote:

Quote:I spoke to Phil Roar on the subject of him driving a Duster , and this is what he said: The car he drove was owned by Zeeker Frame Shop in northern Ohio. It was built to be a Pro Stock car but they ran it in B/MP. A guy named Junior Holbrook built the motor and Phil put only 3 passes on the car with the best of 8.82. Phil said the car was a solid black car and that was the only time he drove the car. Zeeker moved his frame shop to Georgia and Phil does not know what happened to the car. The car was a Hemi with a T-F tranny.Quote:

The car I have is an early Pro/Stock style build and was aquired from Neil Lewis quite a few years ago.It was purchased by him in northern Ohio and was raced in Ohio,New York and Pa in the 70s.When I got the car Neil had the paint stripped and it was primered. The paint was white and black with the "Thundering Hemi"monicker. There were plexiglass windows with 1286#s in the car and Neil said he was told that Phil Roaring had may have driven this car also.I have never been able to document this car.It does have the hoop style roll cage,4link and R&P steering. I'am will try and contact Neil to see if he can provide any additional information.

I never stopped digging them. Mopars, especially Plymouths, look especially "bad", "cool", "tough" or "boss" with 'em.
Here's Kahl Customs' cousin, an equally cool-looking Duster called Prescription Hemi. It's a Pro Stocker though, but really not that much more different than a B/MP car (back then). The car was from Connecticut from what I remember...forget the driver's name.
His name was Dennis Kurtsavage. He passed away several years ago.

It just doesn't get much better than this one. I wonder if it still lives. Beautiful car!
